New Fitness Goal

MENTAL STATUS: "Hyper". Hubby's birthday is tomorrow, so I'm getting ready for that.

Well, I think with my hubby and the whole entire neighborhood on their fitness craze, it was only natural that some of that would slowly drip on me.

So I've started running. Well, jogging. Well, half walking, half jogging. But you get the idea.

I've been a little bored with the exercise routine I had going--although I have been extremely faithful to it since January. With the weather slowly turning warmer, I figured it would be a good time to switch things up.
I hated every second of it. But--aside from the pain in my thighs causing me to walk like a cripple--I really liked how I felt afterward. I had a lot more energy. In my body and my mind. I thought I would be exhausted, but I felt quite the opposite. Weird.
My thighs are still sore, so today I'll just walk. Tomorrow I'll re-start my run/walk routine. Hopefully by the end of May, I'll be able to run 2 or 3 miles straight.

Good for you Jennifer.

I usually do medium weight training (meaning medium effort, not heavy or light) and maybe do 10 minutes of light cardio and then I stretch.

Yay for you! I had a drill sergeant for a PE coach in high school and that man had me in the best shape of my life. He started us out running nonstop for 5 minutes and increased us by a minute or two every week. By the end of the semester I was literally able to run for over an hour. I wish I was like that now but the fat belly loaded with baby is definitely a hindrance in the exercise department! ;oD

Hey, Jennifer. I tip my hat to you. I was so faithful to walk daily for a couple of years, but I have somehow fallen out of the habit during this last year. Thanks for reminding me about the feel good part. :) Now, to get back into that habit...

Good for you, Jennifer!!
I have started going to the gym to lose all the pregnancy weight too, but it's so hard sometimes to stay on that treadmill, my legs just refuse to move.

Run an extra mile for me, okay? I'll have the coffee waiting when you get back (cause you know I'm not leaving my house...heehee)

I'm with Debora, only I'll be bringing the cheese danish.

Seriously, I'm proud of you. I tried walking for about three days. I think I had the wrong shoes because my calves and shins hurt like the devil.

I'm starting something else, but I'm not going to share what it is until I see some results -- major results.

Stop by my blog and read the newspaper article about my grandchildren.
