Book Buzz

IN THE NEWS: "Police in suburban Westchester County said a 13-year-old's detective work led them to a 17-year-old accused of stealing a $2,275 mountain bike. Scarsdale police said the bike was stolen while its 13-year-old owner was inside a village deli." Read more here.

I'm sure you all want to know how productive my writing day was, huh? No? Oh. Well, I'll tell you anyway.
I... almost finished that chapter I was working on. Honestly, I'm so close I can taste it. I just have to think of a little ending. That's it. Then I'm done. You see, I'm not really sure yet how my heroine needs to react to the "black moment" news. So I need to think a bit.

In other news, I helped my friend out last night running the Book Fair at the intermediate school (that's middle school here). I loved browsing through all the books--just to see what the young kids are reading now.

I'll let you in on a little secret, though. Ally Carter's I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You was flying out the door like HOTCAKES. Woo-hoo! I loved that book! (And I told everyone who bought a copy that too) Parents appreciated my input. I think they liked the fact that an adult had read a lot of the young adult novels there and could vouch for the content.

I love to hear book buzz. And speaking of buzz, they had John Grisham's Playing for Pizza there. I have not read this book yet, but it just made my TBR pile. Every person who has read it has loved it. So I HAVE to see what all the hub-bub is.

What about you? Have you heard any good book buzz going on now on a book you haven't read yet? And if so, DISH.

Between my own writing and the contest entries I have to judge, reading has dropped off. Which isn't to say I'm not reading - I'm actually reading like 4 or 5 different books right now - but my concentration levels are in the toilet. It's very slow going.

I haven't read in ages, but I can't remember it if I read it here or another blog, but there is a new vampire young adult series that's supposed to be really good?

I've gotten the strangest looks from parents when I tell them about a young adult novel. It's evidently strange that not only do I have time to read, but I choose to read some YA novels when I do. They can't seem to grasp that.

Of course, it helps that I can finish one in a couple of hours.

Hey Jennifer :) Just wanted to say a huge CONGRATS on your book going print! I'll be looking for it, just so I can brag for you ;).

As for reading...I picked up quite a few Johanna Lindsey books last weekend at a tag sale. I think I got her entire backlist, lol. So far, my favorite is Once a Princess. Very funny, and the hero is YUMMY!

How are you doing?
