Jam Packed Weekend!

I had one busy weekend!

First off, I had a lovely time at my book signing on Saturday. Sherlock's Books and Cafe was totally supportive and kind to invite me to their store, and I just want to thank them for being so cool.
So THANK YOU! :)

Here's Susan (the owner) behind the coffee bar.

More of the cafe. (Cool wall painting, huh?)

Me. Surrounded by all my junk and trying to look authorish (is that a word?) in my nerdy glasses.
Then as soon as I got home, I had to whip up some spinach-Parmesan orzo and take it to a BBQ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then Sunday (after Sunday school), the hubby and I went to Atlantic City for the annual Stainton Society Brunch. The Stainton Society is a fundraising organization and is huge in supporting our local hospital expansion and making it as superior as it is today.
Last year, the speaker was Robin Roberts and this year it was none other than...
Former First Lady Laura Bush!
Cool, huh? We were two of 800 people there. Mrs. Bush was so sweet and just a totally lovely and gracious woman. She shared some moments during her husband's presidency and also talked about how 911 changed her interest to human--and especially women's-- rights in Afghanistan and Myanmar. It was a good time. And a little scary. (TONS of secret service) Eeep.
When I got home and had to take a little nap. I was wiped from all the excitement. :)
What did you do this weekend?
Oh Jennifer, you look so cute & happy with your books. The bookstore looks totally awesome. BTW -- are you wearing glasses in the pic?
That's so cool that you got to meet her! I've always thought that she must be a strong, warm person.
I'm glad you had fun at your signing. LOL You do look authorish, and what a cool store! It looks very trendy.
If it's not...we should make authorish a word;) You look totally cool. We had a nice, quiet weekend filled with two cookouts with hubby's boss and co-workers. We had fresh caught Louisiana shrimp...they were HUGE! I grilled tuna steaks and had several requests for my potato salad.
Cute bookstore. I'm glad things went well.
For once I had a busy weekend too.
BTW, I loved that story about pimpthisbum.com!
A real live book signing?! So how did it go? Was it what you expected? You'll have to do a post on it and tell us!
I had a busy writing weekend as usual! Got my word count done!
Jennifer, you look awesome as an author signer. And the shop is beautiful!
Congrats on your signing and what an amazing weekend. Our girls were in a horse show here, so that filled ours. No throws, so all's good!
You look adorable in your glasses! Did you make that big board behind you? Share...:)
Glad you had a great weekend!
Chelle: Fresh caught seafood is MY FAVORITE! YUm!
Deb: I didn't make the sign. My neighbors did it for me. Isn't that sweet? I think they had Staples do it.
I tried not to drown in all the rain. I need a boat to leave my house. Not literally, but I swear it feels like it's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights!
What a fun weekend for you!
Aw, sounds like you had a great weekend! The book signing part of it looked especially great;) I have to say though I am a little disappointed with the tease about the Spinach-Parmesan orzo with no accompanying recipe.
Jennifer Shirk said...
Ah, Kate, ask and you shall receive... LOL!
I don't think I've ever had Spinach-Parmesan orzo before. Tasty?
The book signing sounds fun....someday. *sigh*
My weekend consisted of shopping for a new carseat for the little one and cleaning out the garage (which ended up making it an even bigger mess).
You look cute in your glasses. Glad you enjoyed your book signing.
Laura Bush's picture is gorgeous. She was a super and classy First Lady.
I went to Amanda's Prom and tried to keep out of her way and not embarrass her.
What a neat looking cafe! I'll bet that was a fun place to do a signing.
I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned some more. It was a fun weekend lemmie tell you! ;)
