News and...News?

MENTAL STATUS: "Happy". The birds are singing, the dieting is now tolerable, and I've begun my next chapter. Life is good.

Sorry I couldn't come up with a snappier title. But I do have news and news to share.

Which do you want first?

Wait--don't answer that! I'll give you the news first. LOL!

First bit of news: I will be doing a book signing at Sherlock's Books and Cafe in Galloway, New Jersey tomorrow from 2pm to 4pm.

If you are in the area, stop by and say hello!

Second bit of news: Did you know that Mattel has introduced the new Totally Stylin Tattoo Barbie? Oh yes.

I have to admit the little pink butterfly on the arm looked harmless enough. Then I saw the huge "Ken" one.

Eeww...

Would you want your little girl playing with tattoo Barbie?

Congrats on the signing. Hope it goes well.

That tatooed Barbie is disgusting and just another way of indoctrinating little girls into pop culture mores. Parents have to be so careful these days with the toys they buy ...

Oh, I hope you have great fun and success at the book signing. I was never a huge fan of Barbies. Loved baby dolls that I could really cuddle, change and feed. Those stick things though never appealed to me.

Barbie's a ho. We've all known that for years.

My girls love Barbies. But I would have to say, that's a tad over the top for little girls. I certainly don't want my 3 year old trying to drag me out to get tatooed! :)

Uh. NO! The tattoo on the arm was fine with me, though I noticed her arm and neck looked a bit emaciated. LOL The one on her back??? What were they thinking!!!
Sigh.

Congrats on the signing. I definitely want to hear about it! :-)

And it looks like they branded her with Indonesia also. :)

What's next- pierced body parts barbie?

Good luck at your book signing! Enjoy!

I have to be the voice of dissent here. hehe I really don't think there is anything wrong with a tattooed barbie. It doesn't seem any different to me than all the temporary tattoos that you can buy for wee ones. I think there is even a Dora with temporary tattoos. Now that being said... The fact that she has ken's name stamped on her booty....that's just a little too much. If it was just a heart with no Ken it wouldn't bother me. Something about stamping a man's name on your body kinda bothers me for some reason.

ANd there is no way I would let my daughter have one of those Barbie dolls--ugh!

I think the tatto barbie is harmless enough. I have a tattoo (would you believe it?) and everytime Punky sees it, she says, "Mommy! Someone colored on your bottom!" (it's close to where the Ken one is)

I don't want my kid getting a tattoo because I greatly dislike mine now, but I look at this barbie like the little pretend tattoos we let our kids play with. It's just all in good fun.

Now if I were to get this and my kids come home with a "KEN" tattoo, I'm suing Mattel!

I. am. horrified. And glad I have boys. Because they don't do that to Star Wars legos.

Yet.

No, no, a thousand times no.

The Ken tattoo over the derriere implies a whole lot of things I'm not comfortable with. But why go there at all?

Just about every mom who has a little girl with unpierced ears has had the discussion, "When can I get ..."

I don't wanna add "tattoo" to the list!
