Parents Be Warned...

MENTAL STATUS: "Pleased". I've been making some really great writing progress--partially due to the fact that I'm trapped in the house while my handyman is making me an extra closet in my bedroom. :)

See the picture below? Yeah, well, it's a "Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker". But don't let the cute little pink and green cupcake on top fool you!

It's an evil device.

Pure. Evil.

My daughter got it from one of her friends as a birthday present. It looked harmless enough to me. But how wrong I was...

First off, it's not as "simple" as it looks. It's a lot of work and a lot of mess for one measly cupcake. I could buy a Betty Crocker cake mix and end up with 24 cupcakes with greater ease.

And even if you follow the directions perfectly on this "toy", the cupcake will come out either too dry or too wet. We made one the other day and apparently we added too much water to the frosting because it shot out everywhere--AKA on ME.

And the taste! Ugh! It was so awful I had to double check the expiration date.
Honestly, if my daughter did not enjoy using this thing so much, it would have been torched a long time ago. In fact, I don't know how this thing did it, but it has actually managed to surpass MOON SAND on my mental toys-I'd-love-to-kick-to-the-curb-without-my-daughter-noticing list.

If only that were possible.
**sigh**

Fortunately, there's not much cupcake mix left. :)

Pssst. Do you have kids? If so, do you despise any of their toys?

It's okay. I won't tell.

You are just too funny!! I guess your daughter is just following in your footsteps with a love of gadgets! And, yes! There are a few toys I've tried to secretly sneak out of the house in the middle of the night, but somehow they always end up back in the toy bin. :)

LOL I'll make sure I don't buy that one for my twins. I agree with you on the Moon Sand. Must've been someone without kids who invented it. Grrrr...

Lol! You know there's a problem when you start personifying kids toys :) I don't mind the Moon Sand so much. And the Easy Bake Oven is just a dream! (Have you tried the Oreo dessert? To DIE for!!) He he he...

Lynnette: Moon Sand has now become an "outside only" toy.

Cindy: My daughter really wants an Easy Bake oven, but after this cupcake maker fiasco, I've turned a deaf ear to her request. LOL!

But if you say it's good... MAYBE I'll consider it. :)

I loved light bright as a kid, but as a mom? er...not so much. Those little plastic pegs are all over my house and hurt when you step on them barefooted :)

These are the moments memories are made from:)) lol My daughter is grown and gone but we went through many such machines together. Hate them. Was so happy when they disappeared but now I would gladly take them back if it meant she and I were doing it together again. Enjoy!

Reminds me of the Easy Bake Oven I had. Nearly 40 years ago. Cooked everything with a lightbulb. Cakes were flat and dry. But my dad ate everything I made, and never complained.

Boy, I miss him.

Your daughter will remember and cherish cooking with her mom. Together you'll laugh about the rest.

LOL! Yes, there have been toys that annoyed me. Heh. I try to hide them in the closet.

LOL! That is too funny! I don't really mind any of my sons toys, except when the songs of the ones that play music get stuck in my head, and suddenly I'm like, "What is that song I'm humming? Oooh, it's from the Laugh and Learn Kitchen. Of course."

OH, Yes!!!
My kids are grown, but I always disliked anything with noise!!!

Now it seems like all the baby toys have not only lights but awful computer genrerated music! arrgggghhhh!!!

We took the battery out of our 2 year old granddaughter's Veggie Tales nativity that had Jr. Asparagus singing off-key, and she was so confused, it was sad and hilarious at the same time.

My favs are books and Legos.

What a fun post! Thanks!

Yeah. We've got em, too. Who doesn't? There's always a relative or friend that wants to shower your child with something COOL. LOL I ahve a hard time with the hard to work ones. If my kids can't do it on their own, I don't like it...

Hmm, not sure what that says about me. LOL We love books, though. Thomas the Train tracks... puzzles, coloring, Wii. LOL
