Home Improvement Time!

IN THE NEWS: Conn. bride rescues family from house fire. Read more HERE.

For some reason when the weather starts getting warmer, the hubby likes to start to doing little improvements/updates around the house. But this year he's really outdoing himself.

In fact, being the sweet, marvelous, considerate, wonderful man that he is (are you reading this sweetie?), he's given me the green light on more than a few things for the house.

So here is a list of what I am going to be doing within the next few weeks:

1) installing extra closet in master bedroom (just finished that, actually)

2) painting master bedroom--which includes new curtains and a new bedding, because I'm going with a totally new color which has yet to be determined.

3) new dishwasher. And I got the green light to go with stainless steel! Woo-hoo! The only thing my hubby cares about is that it must be QUIET. (We have trouble hearing our TV when our current dishwasher is running.)

4) having window washers come to clean ALL the windows in our house (inside and out)

5)purchase a new bed for the kiddo. (the girlie is VERY excited about this one)

I'm not sure who this man is who agreed to all these updates, but I hope he sticks around long enough to agree to new kitchen counters.
(Yeah. I KNOW I'm pushing my luck) :)

Are you doing anything new to your house now?

Good for hubby! Mine recently finished putting down tile in the foyer and downstairs bathroom amd replacing the family room carpet with wood.

Has girlie seen the Cinderella bed? My grandaughter begged for that, but it was out of her parent's price range. You can see it here: http://www.roomstogokids.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=ktg.showRoom&roo_id=2300

Woah! What a hubby you have! We aren't doing anything around our house since we are hoping to move in the next few months. It could certainly use your hubby though!

My hubby (who is the awesomest man alive) is finishing our basement! It looks incredible. He's amazing, very detail oriented. I can't wait to use the extra space!

My hubby and my daddy are fixing our front steps next week so I can no longer fear that someone is going to ignore the sign on them and fall through and sue me. (Or me fall through because I ignore the sign all the time to get to the water hose for my plants. hehe) And he painted my front door for me on Sunday so it's no longer an ugly shade of green that clashes with my BEAUTIFUL blue siding, but a lovely shade of dark blue. It does need one more coat, but that won't take long. So next step is paint the back door. Build a privacy fence in the back, build a patio in the back, and install a new door to the backyard.

I don't have big plans or anything... Oh I'd also happily take a sunroom/dining room with a built in storm cellar beneath it.

Maybe we should win the lottery...

I'm hitting a few things on your list, or at least hope to! New bedding for a couple bedrooms, painting job for the girls' room, and maybe new fort for the kiddos in the back yard!

Let's trade DHs, Jennifer. My last two daughters would kill for new beds and their rooms repainted. Heck, they've been bugging me the last three months to get a patition to split their room so they don't share.

Oooh, sounds like some wonderful improvements. We are currently (STILL) remodeling our kitchen. This weekend we are taking out the soffits (or whatever they're called) and hopefully getting our new pantry in soon.

Jennifer, you are truly blessed!!! That man deserves a steak served just as he likes it!

My household reno's as of late include new window trim in the living room after I painted the room myself. I am holding out for a whole new kitchen, though. Hopefully before I die!

LOL, one step at a time, woman! hehehe Sounds like a great list of things to do! Since you don't have little little ones, I guess my suggestion of "clean steel" for your dishwasher is pointless. If it were me, I couldn't stand the fingerprints. I had a clean steel one in my last house and LOVED it!!!

That sounds like a list I should make. Huh. LOL I can't believe you did closets by yourself!!! Go you. :-)

I got new towels ;)

I do plan to repaint my bedroom over summer vacation. Have the color picked out, a kind of blue green.
