Putting a Little Color in My Life

IN THE NEWS: "A Florida woman was duped into changing diapers and providing care for a man she met through Craigslist who feigned disabilities." Read more HERE.

Well, I went out looking at more paint samples yesterday and I think I have it narrowed down to two for my master bedroom. Mercer blue and Dusty Leaf (sorry, no link, so you'll have to use your imagination, but it's like a sage green) :)

Both my choices seem great for a master bedroom. According to Benjamin Moore Paints,

Blue is non-threatening, and is a symbol of trust and longevity. It is refreshing, soothing, calm, and dependable.
Blue is also known as anti-inflammatory, and can provide relief for insomnia and headaches. It slows metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and decreases heartburn and indigestion.

Green confers a sense of relaxation and comfort. It represents health and prosperity, and refreshes the spirit. Green is the easiest color for the eye to see.

I couldn't believe how indecisive I've been about this. I should have had my bedroom painted like... JUNE! But I kept thinking What is a color I could wake up to every morning and not get sick of? I had no real answer. :)

Right now my walls are beige (actually our entire house is pretty neutral colored), so the hubby and I felt no matter what it was time for some color. Color is good. I like color. Although I confess I am a little intimidated by it.

The last time I wanted color I ended up with an orange bathroom (bleh), so believe me my fear is warranted.

I'm repainting my bathroom by the way to get rid of the orange.
I'm going to re-paint it Cracker Bitz--which is basically a warm beige. LOL! Somebody help me...

Are you afraid of color in your house, too?

In our VA house, our bathroom was blue and our bedroom was yellow. In this house everything is a light coffee with cream and will probably stay that way due to rounded corners and an open floor plan that make stopping a color nearly impossible.

First of all, I have to comment on your news clip. Ew. Ew, Ew, Ew!

And, my vote is for the green. It's cozy. :)

i'm not afraid of color...but i do shy away from extreme colors that are faddish. it makes selling a house later sometimes more difficult, it seems. my mom has now painted every bedroom in her house a different color, and gone and matched each color with different berber carpets...it's way over the top. but that's just my two cents. that said...i really like the blue!

I like Cracker Bitz, and I like the Mercer blue for the bedroom. My bedroom is a similar blue too. I know what you mean about choosing colours. It's not easy!

My husband and I have always rented so painting is not an option for us, but I would definitely add some color if I had the option. I would go with green - but then again I love all things green:)

I would choose a calming soothing pale green. My house is pained in golds and i love it. I've always wanted one crimson wall in the dinning room but never dared to try it. Wouldn't that be nice at Christmas?

color is emotion invoking and represents us. It is a key element in our lives - even in our writing and marketing.

Our whole house is the same color. :-) I like green, but I've seen blue look good. :-)

btw, I stopped by earlier but forgot to comment! LOL Because I was reading my sister over the phone your weird news for the day. Yuck! That's so nasty. It got me and my sister on a roll about pervs. LOL

Originally my bedroom was a pale blue... but it ended up bothering me. Now it's "first frost" with is a very pale green and I LOVE IT. It's been green for years, and I still go in and *sigh*. It's the best.

So, yeah, I vote green.

I vote for blue but I'm just not a big green fan. In the end, you have to go with the color that will make you happiest (plus match your bedding).

My bedroom is green and I love it. I am a neutral type of gal too. You can always bedazzle it with accesories!

Our first house was like an empty palette screaming for me to add color. Unfortunatly, I don't think it really flowed from one room to the next:( But I do love color, now I've learned to stick within a range, like from those nifty color sample packages you can pick up and I try not to go outside of their choices:) Your colors sound wonderful!

I painted my office sage green and never regretted it. It's a very peaceful color.

I like blue, but I once painted my kitchen a pale blue and after a few months started hating it. Their is only so much you can match to blue. Green reads as more of a neutral.

Good luck!

Oh, I love orange Jennifer, but if you are a blusey person I can understand you not liking it!

So glad you found the shades you like.

Thanks for celebrating with me on my blog today,
Jen

I painted my downstairs room Chili-Pepper Red and I'm in love with it. It really shows off any woodwork and contrasts beautifully with anything on the walls.

I have 5 cans left over and my wife is starting to sweat...
hehehe

Because I love your blog, I'm giving you an award tomorrow! (You don't have to post it or nominate a million people. I absolve you from these duties lol, unless of course the sprit moves you ;)

Charlie: You and your red paint cans must stay away from my house. LOL!

Jeanette: I think I like more peachy oranges. I got rusty pumpkin. LOL!

I am hoping for a warm apricot colour in our bedroom. The exteriors & interiors here in Cyprus tend to be magnolia to keep cool in the summer. The trouble is when we have our few weeks of cold, the house feels cold with no colour.
DH hates painting, that is why I used the word, hoping. :)
Sage green is nice...now dear about the hallway

Before you paint over the orange, paint the bathroom walls white first because the orange will `bleed` through the beige after a year of steamy showers.
