Writer's Spread

MOOD STATUS: "Energized".

I hesitate announcing this, but I have once again started to jog in the mornings.

Ok. Now before you roll your eyes at me, let me say I'm doing it right this time!
I'm starting out at a much slower pace. I first fast walk for a mile and then I jog for a mile and then I walk again for about half a mile.

I admit that jogging and me have always had a bit of love-hate relationship, but so far I see this regime sticking.

It's the dreaded "writer's spread" that has pushed me toward this. I've seen a change in my body recently. (My buttocks to be more accurate) Although it's been good for my wip, spending so much time in my computer chair has not been benefiting my figure. And just walking three days a week wasn't cutting it.

I have to say I have MUCH more energy.
And if you don't count the fact that it hurts to stand, sit, go up and down stairs or move in general, I feel awesome. :)

Are you getting writer's spread, too?
What are you doing to prevent it?

Oh yes, indeed! I have taken action too! However, I joined Weight Watchers and have lost 8.2 pounds in 3 weeks. I need to excercise, but running is definitely not what I do!!! I will have to try something a little less sweat producing. :)

I'm with Sherrinda. Running is not my thing, but I started at a gym this week. The elliptical trainer is my favorite. It's easy on the knees and is a killer workout for the butt and thighs. My pain is finally easing up after three visits ...

Good for you! I really love jogging! A year ago I would have laughed at anyone who said that, but I totally do!

LOL I hate jogging but I love it too. Good luck with the "spread". Heeheee.

Okay, now I need to out it. I begged my husband to buy a treadmill b/c I was going to train for a half marathon last summer. Writing took over and I've been on the thing maybe ten times...never did run the marathon, but wrote a novel and a half. :D

I'm spreading!

My bad knee won't allow me to jog or run...so I'm doing an exercise bike. I have one I can adjust to where it won't hurt my knee. I guess I'm getting old!

Thanks for making me have to look down there and check it out..... yes, it does appear the saddle bags are loaded up and ready to travel...:O)

I'm back to the elliptical but as it cools down I'll probably start walking again. I've never really gotten the running thing. I can barely run for a minute. lol

No Writer's Spread yet, thanks for the warning!

My husband is an avid runner and always encourages me to find some exercise regime that works for me. If for no other reason than to increase my energy.

Maybe one day...Maybe one day soon..Pilates?

Blessings to you...I will keep you in prayer!

Running is definitely not my thing. I try to walk a few times a week. But I think I'm going to have to step it up now. I'm contemplating getting out my pilates tape again. That totally kicked my butt but it was awesome--and I saw results!

I've been walking then jogging a few nights a week. I know I'll have to move it inside soon, and I'm afraid the momentum I've achieved will be lost. I much prefer to exercise outside. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck!

Avoiding the spread here, too! So funny!

LOL on the "writers spread" - there are definitely days when I get up from my chair and feel like my butt is now chair shaped. Right now I am not doing anything about it, but after the baby comes - yeah, there will definitely be some form of (torturous) exercise going on.

Good for you!

I try and run two or three times a week. My definition of a run is two miles--and a slow two miles. I have no desire to go beyond two miles. None. And it does make me feel energized. :)

And I thought my chair was shrinking :)

Writer's Spread - of course! I should have realized that's why my pants aren't fitting over my fanny as well these days!

I am fighting it though - I'm trying to fit a few more toning workouts in and I'm taking the dog for longer walks.

Good luck with the jogging!

So that's what it is! I'm glad to have a name to put to it :) I decided today to do this 100 mile fitness challenge ... we'll have to see how it goes!
