Halloween Recap

IN THE NEWS: NH restaurant sets meatball record. Read more HERE.

Don't ask me why I had let myself get roped into to trick-or-treating. I just... did. But this is how it happened:

Weeks ago, my daughter decided to be Daphne from Scooby Doo. Well, then she talked her neighbors into being Scooby and Freddy. Then we talked another neighbor into being Shaggy. And well, we just couldn't talk my daughter's five year friend into being Velma. So...

Before I knew it, I was agreeing to "take one for the team" and be Velma.

Of course this was decided two hours before trick-or-treating was to start!

My crafty neighbor had all the kids help paint and make The Mystery Machine, which she then attached to a wagon that we pulled around with us.

That HUGE Velma is me with my little 'Daphne'. My costume is really lame. My friend brought over a wig, which I cut. I had the glasses and found an orange top. I couldn't find orange knee-high socks, so I had to use my hubby's black ones. I think it did the job.

What do you think of it?

Did you dress up for Halloween?

No dressing up. We had friends over and she and I wrote in between handing out candy while the hubbies watched college ball.

It must have been fun. I didn't dress up, but I am really no fun at Halloween because I never dress up. I think your looked great as Velma though. Considering the limited resources, you did a splendid job.

Cute costumes! We haven't done Halloween in 30 years, but the grandkids attended two Fall festivals at their respective churches. They had a ball.

Love it! Yes, actually I did. It's been years since I dressed up and last minute I turned myself into a black cat.

Ha! That's awesome!

I ended up on the couch watching tv most of the night. It was fun though!

Very cute and clever. Those kinds of costumes are always my favorite to see.

I always dress up to hand out the candy. This year I was a green and black witch :)

How cute! I Scooby and Shaggy stop by my house, but no Velma and Daphne, and definitely no Myster Machine. I bet you guys were a hoot!

OMG You guys were adorable! What a great idea!

I did dress up. I was the Fairy Goth Mother. My boys were a knight and a dragon. They were super cute!

Looks like lots of fun was had! I stayed home in my normal attire and gave out candy to the trick or treaters at the door. Lots of great costumes this year.

I love it! How creative!

You may have taken one for the team, but this was a great idea. Whoever crafted the time machine needs extra candy for all their hard work.

How cute! I didn't dress up this year, just handed out candy and marveled at the little princesses, ghouls and goblins.

Our teenage kids dressed up, but we stayed home to pass candy out to the hordes of kids in our neighborhood.

I love the costume, Jennifer!

Great idea! I love it when people go in groups for costume parties, trick or treating, etc. I ended up being the only person at our Halloween party dressed up. I was Professor Trelawny of Harry Potter fame.

Hi Jennifer,
So enjoyed the cute picture and great idea. Maybe we should coin a new phrase: team-player-mommy!

Many thanks for stopping by and suggesting the helpful book on humor. I like the "lighthearted" term.
Your book looks fantastic and I will have to add it to my list of "research" books. Or at least that is what I tell my husband ;-)
