Wednesday Work In Progress #6

MOOD STATUS: "Excited". Getting my new bedroom curtains on Friday!

Hey! Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I'm going to the mall with my mom today, so I'll keep this brief. Meaning, even more brief than usual. :)

As I mentioned on Monday, I had a "eureka moment" with my characters and was able to fix my written chapters and even add another part of a chapter as well. Yay.

So here's my progress:

(I designed this cute little progress meter for spring)

Do you see the little rabbit? Look at him go to the right like that!!
What a good bunny.

Made some new goals for this week and made myself accountable to my crit group as well.
Here they are:
1) write 3,000 words (and/or finish chapter 3)
2) start reading a new book
3) do 2 critiques

I also had to send in a column for my RWA chapter's newsletter this week.

We've decided to do an "ask the author" section with a new question every month posed to the published authors in our chapter.

This month's question was "What's your favorite writing quote?"

Here's a few that we liked:

It's not the destination, it's the journey. ~ Steven Tyler

I try to leave out the parts that people skip. ~Elmore Leonard

I can always fix a bad page. I can’t fix a blank one. ~ Nora Roberts

Love them!

Reading those make me feel even more determined to achieve my writing goal this week.
And as soon as I get back from shopping...
I'll start. :)

What's your writing goal this week?
Do you have a favorite writing quote?

I went right over to that sight for some new word count meters. Never saw that one before.

One of my favorite quotes is:

"If you need to believe in the muse, let's say, fine and dandy. Whatever works for you. But don't tell me you can't work today because the muse has left you. Go track down that fickle slut, drag her back, chain her to your keyboard and get to work." - Nora Roberts

LOL! Chicki, that's a great one!

I can see why your chosen quotes got you motivated, especially the Elmore Leonard one, and even more so as I'm sat at my laptop polishing book 2 and pulling my hair out with frustration! My aim for this week is get complete draft 4 and hopefully draft 5 will be the final manuscript! Thanks for the advice, karen x

I like your goals, they sound doable. I'm actually going to the mall with my mom tomorrow. Is it unofficially take your mom to the mall week?

My writing goals: go to my first critique group, ever. Finish revising two chapters. Whew. That seems like a big one.

MY WRITING GOAL HAS BEEN MET!!!
I AM LEAVING ON VACATION AND MAY NOT WRITE A WORD EXCEPT IN THE SAND...

Blessings, dear one.
Love this place; but you know that.

Actually I'm not so good at fixing bad pages...I just looked at what I'd spent most of this week writing, deemed it crap, and tossed it and started over. I think I work better from scratch!

Good for you. I hope you have fun at the mall. My goal this week is 1000 words/day. I've been doing pretty good so far. And I love that Nora Roberts quote. It reminds me to get the words down and work on them later.

3000 words. Been doing good for two weeks in a row and have a goal to finish this baby in two months!

Bunny meter!! Adorable!! I've been meeting my writing goals, which feels awesome. I'm revising now, and I can't believe I'm admitting it, but I love it! I used to HATE revising! Have fun shopping.

Good Luck with your goals! Oh I hope you had fun shopping! I work in a mall office - so we love our shoppers ;o)

I have 1 crit to do and also revisions - haven't put a deadline on it, but maybe I should... ;o) Those are great quotes too.

Enjoy those curtains!!

To conquer my lack of discipline and set more goals! :-) I keep up with all of my freelance assignments, but my fiction takes a hit. I need to schedule time every day to work on my novel.

Nora Roberts' quote is my favorite. I heard Kristin Billerbeck say it this way: "You can fix bad, but you can't fix blank." Love that!

The bunny meter is great! I've conquered part of my writing goal...wrote my newspaper column and got 3 blog posts up(one on each blog). I'm determined to know make a vision board like Jill posted about:)

I love those quotes too!

One of my favorite quotes is:
"The man who
does not read
good books has
no advantage
over the man
who can't read."
Mark Twain

Mark Twain has tons of great quotes though. :)
