T-day break!

Well, it's the inevitable that I would have to take a blog break this week to prepare for Thanksgiving.
I'm hosting, so I'm responsible for the turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (homemade of course), creamed spinach, and pecan pie.
My sister-in-law will bring the pumpkin pie.
And my mom is bringing the sweet potatoes and kielbasa.
Um...yes, I said kielbasa
Just like the Pilgrims... LOL
Okay, not really. But I'm half Polish, so it wouldn't be Thanksgiving with a little kielbasa and sauerkraut on the table. Just one those little things that make our turkey day a little unique. Along with my family famous pecan pie!

How about you? Does your family have a special food tradition for Thanksgiving?

PS. This is my last post for the week. If I don't get a chance to wish you a happy holiday on your blog, I'll say it now.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
And see you next Monday!

My husband and I are contributing mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and Dutch apple pie to the feast this week. Hope you have a great holiday!

By the way, I'm reading Georgie on His Mind right now and love it! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

We always make a fresh cranberry salad/relish made out of shredded cranberries, green apples, and brown sugar. Oranges and cinnamon are optional. A food processor is needed of course.

Our whole clan descends upon my in-laws' house like a plague of locusts, and clean them out. It's great. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just read about sauerkraut being a part of the Thanksgiving tradition in PA. Kielbasa sounds yummy too. In my mind, its all about the food you love, regardless of what that is. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm hosting, too. Have a great week. We are pretty traditional on Thanksgiving, but we all love kielbasa...so why not! Happy Thanksgiving!

I have to eat at my in-laws for lunch and my Dad's for supper on T-day. And I usually have to brink crock pot macaroni and cheese. Yum!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I married into a family where no one likes cranberry sauce. Cranberry sauce is the STAPLE of my Thanksgiving. So I'm thankful for MIL who buys me a can of cranberry sauce, slaps it on a plate just for me and completes Thanksgiving in a very loving way.

Kielbasa, that's interesting! We don't have anything particularly special, but it's all good. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving and there's nothing wrong with kielbasa. However, the Pilgrims did eat eels on Thanksgiving. Eels are delicious, but I haven't seen that on a Thanksgiving table before.

Enjoy your holiday! It sounds great!

As for us? Our tradition is a family carrots recipe. I actually shared it on my blog for a contest Candy hosted:

Creamed corn and the green bean casserole. I'm thinking about them now!

Yumm! I like kielbasa and sauerkraut!

We don't have any specific foods, tradition wise, that have to be served on turkey day. I do all the cooking for my family, so whatever I make, they eat. Every year I seem to forget to buy something, so every year there is something that doesn't get served.

Turkey is in the fridge thawing for the big day and I'm writing out a list of last minute things to pick up at the store while reading blogs.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My family's Polish too, and we love kielbasa, but I don't remember ever having it at Thanksgiving. :) We pretty much do the traditional fare, but after my sister married my brother-in-law, pecan pie is now a must-have. Before he married into the family, I'd never even tried it.

My stepdad is British so for Thanksgiving, we just go to Cracker Barrel. We're going to my mom-in-law's for t-giving this year so we'll have our full turkey dinner...so I probably won't even get the turkey dinner at Cracker Barrel. I just don't care for Thanksgiving food that much...except dessert. But I don't like pumpkin or pecan pie either, so I guess I don't care for any of it! I eat it because you're supposed to...but it's just bleh to me.

What's Thanksgiving without Kielbasa? :)

Sounds like a delicious spread. Have a wonderful holiday!

I've been in the US for many years now and am quite acclimatized to the odd collection of casseroles and dishes that appear on a typical US Thanksgiving Day lunch table. But the first few years were quite a shock: OMG, Jello salad? You put green beans.....in a casserole? Why does my gravy look like wallpaper paste? Don't ask me about the turkey dressing, I didn't know they came clothed. And what the heck is a yam, anyway?
