A BAD Case of the Sillies

MOOD STATUS:
"Happy". Making some serious progress on my WIP. Who wouldn't be happy about that?

Well, at the risk of TMI (too much information), I just have to share with you anyway what’s been going on in my household these past few weeks.

My hubby and I have had a case of the sillies.

No, it’s not life-threatening and I’m sure eventually—like MONO—will pass. But there you have it. We have the sillies. What can I say? We like to laugh.
How did this suddenly happen you might ask? Well, it all started with a couple of boxes of Gleem toothpaste my hubby bought for the family.

Okay, I know I could stop right there, because me using Gleem toothpaste is funny in itself. I mean, who buys Gleem?

Well, apparently we do. It’s very inexpensive. But I digress...

So anyway, the hubby took the toothpaste out of the box and apparently just dropped it into the bathroom trashcan. He did not bend it so it would fit. He did not crush it. NO. There it was sticking up and halfway out of the trashcan like a huge straw. Now I, being the neurotic woman I am, finally couldn’t take looking at it any longer and picked it out, crushed it, and threw it away properly.

I know, hilarious. But stick with me.

Well, the hubby goes into the bathroom and notices that I couldn’t take how he threw out it out and makes a comment about how I mutilated his precious Gleem box. Which had me laughing.
But it goes on.

Unbeknownst to me, he picked the Gleem box out of the trashcan, flattened it, and left it for me to find—under my laptop to be cute.

Well, when I found it, I laughed and decided two can play at his game. So I hid it where he’d find it: his sock drawer.

Then he hid it for me in my makeup bag

Well, I hid it in his shower caddy yesterday. (you can see for yourself the silliness of this nature) The hubby congratulated me on that one, by the way. It really took him by surprise. :)

The beauty of this comedy is that we each find it every couple of days—and just when we’ve completely forgotten about that stupid toothpaste box, it shows up again.

Now, you may be thinking, Jennifer, you need to get more. There's no doubt about that. But I still have to say, it’s the cheap little laughs in life that I enjoy the most. :)

What about you?

Do you think you’re more of a serious person? Or do you get a case of sillies (like me) every once in a while?

Hilarious! My husband and I do things like that all the time. Laughing in marriage is important. It keeps things lively and fun and our kids see that which shows them marriage should be and can be fun and exciting even after 16 years!

You should tape it to the toilet lid so he sees it when he opens it! LOL

Oh my gosh, the toilet! That's perfect! (I hope he doesn't read this) :)

Too funny! No wonder you write comedy! Love the toilet lid idea, LOL. How about taping it to his steering wheel or windshield so he finds it when he's leaving for work :).

I think it's so awesome when a married couple can joke around together like that. My husband and I get silly sometimes - I love those times!

I absolutely LOVE this! So much so I may borrow it the next time it's appropriate around here.

Happy Weekend.

I love this, Jennifer! My husband and I do silly stuff like this all the time!

When I was growing up, we had this florescent orange astronaut, about the size of your pinky, with magnetic feet (I have no idea where it came from). I think my mom started hiding it in random places, but it was tricky because it had to be magnetic places. You'd find this orange astronaut every where! Whoever found it then took it and hid it in a new spot. As far as I know, even though we kids are all out of the house, my mom and dad still play hide the astronaut!

Hope you and your hubby play many games of the sillies!

Hahaha that's seriously cute.
Also, I have never heard of Gleem...sounds like a fun way to brush your teeth though.

I think it's great that you are happy in your marriage, and easily amused. It sounds like something we'd do.

We get cases of the sillies over things people say, like a lady I knew called KMart, "KMarx." And we like to call each other goofy names.

It keeps our home a happy one.

I must be cheesy too because I think this is adorable!

Ha! I Iove that. Cheap entertainment. And yeah, Gleem?

I LOVE IT!!! I've done the exact same thing (subbing out the Gleem box) and it's way too silly and juvenile and fun! :)

A good case of the sillies is a great thing to have. My sister and I used to have a very similar thing going on, though in our case it was a tacky plastic Sacred Heart Auto League dashboard Jesus card thing as opposed to a Gleem box. We even had to make a No-Jesus-in-public rule after he popped out of my sister's history book.

It sounds like you guys have a lot of fun to me! That's what keeps a relationship alive, I think.

This is awesome. It illustrates the reason why you're happy! And I didn't even know they still sold Gleem.

This reminds me of my husband's fire station. One Christmas party, someone received a giant bottle of English Leather cologne. Every year, for about five years, that same bottle of English Leather was gifted to some unsuspecting victim.

Yep, it's the little things.

Sounds like you guys are a perfect match :)
My husband and I have alot of inside jokes -- it's important to keep laughter in a relationship I think.
And, like your earlier commenter, I was surprised to find out they still sold Gleem!

This is awesome! For one, I didn't even know they still MADE Gleem-- it's what my mom always bought when I was a kid because it was so dang cheap. But I don't think it's available in the Western states, I haven't seen it for ages. Anyway, this kind of playfulness is what makes for a happy marriage! I love it.

I can see the tv sparkle at the end of the commercial... or was that for Pearl Drops tooth polish??? I'm going to blame you for my early morning retro-mania!

Super cute. :)

I think I'm both.

I didn't know anyone was so attached to Gleem boxes.

I think you sound like fun people!! LOL
And hey, I bought Gleem a few months ago because it was 2 for a dollar!!
