A to Z Blogging Challenge: F is for...

Hey, all!

Most of us are readers and/or writers so DUH, this word for F was a no brainer.

So F is for: Fiction!

I LOVE to read fiction. (I know. Shocker.)

I'll read all kinds of fiction (YA, Women's fiction, Thrillers, Inspirational, Mystery, etc..) but I especially love reading romances. In fact, lately, I've been on a bit of a category romance kick. They're cheap (even cheaper on ebook!!), they're short (perfect for my recent short attention span), there's a guaranteed HEA (yay) and most of them are really really good (double yay).

Right now, I'm reading An Unexpected Father by Lisa Ruff, which was just nominated for the coveted RITA award from the Romance Writers of America. I can see why it was nominated. :-)

My hubby however is becoming more of a... non fiction reader.

Ack!! Boo-hiss!

(Ha! Just kidding. I'm just so happy he's reading anything)

Here's what he's reading right now: Ghost Soldiers by Hampton Sides. He's really enjoying it!!

How about you? Do you read fiction or non fiction more? What genre of fiction are you reading more of now?

It's interesting how men get more into factual stuff and women more into romance/fantasy. If I could just come up with a factual love story set in WW2, I'd have it made.

I read both. In my office I read non-fiction. Elsewhere in the house, I read fiction, and all kinds. On planes and in waiting rooms I read my mags.

I read mostly fiction. I read a lot of YA... probably because I'm a big kid at heart.

When I read non fiction, it mostly for research (or I'm reading another book on writing). My major love is fiction, especially YA. My next favorite is romantic suspense (which is what I'm reading right now).

My husband hasn't read a novel in over 15 years. Mostly he's reading business reports. I much prefer my "homework." :D

that books looks familiar. I think my husband read Ghost Soldiers too! I do enjoy romance but I've been reading more YA and MG just b/c it's what I write.

I don't think it's a gender difference. My previous boyfriend love fantasy and sci-fi, I prefer literary fiction but I do the odd trip to other worlds, too. I love romance but not the straightforward ones (any more) but the ones that also paint a real picture of people and relationships.

I tend to read both but I probably read more fiction than non-fiction. My favorite is crime fiction/thrillers. I so wish I could write one.

I prefer fiction to nonfiction by far. I like the entertainment and escapism value!

I read primarily fiction. I also read nonfiction, though. I used to read almost all mystery/thrillers, but I've branched out to include women's fiction and just about anything.

My husband avoids reading fiction. He will read any kind of non-fiction but devours biographies/autobiographies.
I love fiction. I love short historical romances - anything set in a castle ;)

I have been reading a lot of craft books on writing this year but mostly I read women's fiction-I have some favorite authors and waiting on the library to get me their new books!

Me too! I adore fiction, altho I went through a phase of about 10 years when I avoided it and only read non fiction. I also love memoirs, biographies, and well let's face it, about anything between the covers of a book!

I love fiction but I'll admit it's probably 50-50. I love learning how to do stuff too.

Mainly fiction for me, but I do enjoy a good book about quantum physics from time to time. (Um, seriously. That stuff is so crazy it may as well be fiction.)

Fiction, fiction, fiction! I'm reading a middle-grade fantasy and a mainstream historical fiction novel right now.

I prefer fiction, definitely, but my hubby reads only non-fiction. :-)

My husbster isn't much of a fiction reader either, but that's okay, I more than make up for it ;)

I always find a good romance or chick-lit book is ideal for vegging out - there are easy to read and not too long!

Great post.

Your the first A-Z challenger I've read today, and now curious if others used Fiction for F too! I am reading a YA, and a Christian non-fiction currently.

Like Lynn said your the first to mention Fiction. I love fiction I love to get away, to dream. Non-fiction is generally too real and too close to home :)

I'm with you about fiction vs non-fiction. Unless it's a memoir, I want no part of anything real. :)

I'm a fiction reader all the way! I especially love YA fantasy. My husband reads non-fiction almost exclusively. He doesn't read much, but when he gets into a book he won't put it down.

EW, non-fiction. GROSS!!!!!!!

I'm fiction all the way. I learned all I could learn in kindergarten, anyway. *wink*

Great F word, woman! You rock!

Urban fantasy all the way!

I like fiction for the most part - but when it is non-fiction it's usually a biography or memoir of a show business person. Right now, though, reading the history of the British Secret Service - a birthday gift! And for fiction - I am a fiend for series books - I like the comfortable feeling of repeating characters who are like old friends - even if, as some complain, the "reset" button is usually hit at the end.

Fiction all the way. From Winnie the Pooh to Jane Austen and everything in between!
