A to Z Blogging Challenge: I is for...

Hey, all!

Today's word is for my favorite TV show.

Did you guess?

I is for Idol! (American Idol)

I started watching Idol about halfway through season two. But I wasn't always such a fan. When it was first aired, I refused to watch. I saw the previews and thought, "Wow, what a dumb idea for a show."

Oh well. What do I know? LOL

I finally decided to tune in just to see what the hub-bub was all about. Then that was it. I was HOOKED. So when season Three rolled around, I had to watch it from the very beginning all the way through and have never stopped since. Season Four is when I decided to go completely nuts and I actually started voting. PS. I totally rooted for Carrie Underwood from day one.

This year I actually almost stopped watching. I figured Simon and some of the other judges had left, so maybe I should get out on a high note too. But I'm so glad I didn't! This year has to be THE most talented year ever. The singing has been amazing! It gives me goose bumps to see the beginnings of so many careers.

Now, I was worried about the show when Simon left. I always appreciated what he had to say (when he wasn't being rude) but this year's judges really are giving the show such a positive spin that you can't help but feel good yourself. And that's what I'm really loving about the show. It's a kindlier, gentler American Idol this year, which makes it much more fun to watch.

What about you? Do you watch American Idol? What do you think about the new judges? (Are you surprised Pia was voted off)

I have ups and downs with Idol...during the Carrie Underwood year, I voted...for her. My then 10 year old daughter voted for Bo Vice. She was profoundly sad when he lost and as a result we took the next year off from Idol. I watched last year and thought the decision was a disappointment. I wasn't going to watch at all this year until I decided to check out the judges. I agree. It is a kinder, gentler Idol and I love Steven Tyler. That said, I took last week off. There is too much time invested watching that show when I could be doing other things. I may not watch any more. I still checked out the results on line though. Poor Pia.

Even though I"m not from Australia I loved American Idol... I stopped watching when Simon was replaced. I loved him.

Great 'I' - my boys and I always watch this although it's now known as X Factor here.

I think Simon's brilliant and love how he always says what the rest of us are thinking!

I've watched more Idol this year than any other due to my children now watching it. I like the new judges, but I do wish they were a little more constructive and critical like Simon. I think it does help the singers strive to be better.
And yes, I cannot believe Pia was voted off!

Shocked that Pia went home - I think I almost cried too!
I didn't expect to like it this year either - and I've never been a JLo fan. Well, I was wrong on both counts, the show is great this year and I even find myself enjoying JLo. I'm a convert! :)

I go strong with a show like that in the beginning and then I fizzle off. I was the same with Survivor.

My new one is Secret Millionare. Loved it last night!

I watched a few of the seasons of idol, but got tired of listening to Simon. If it has more of a positive spin without him, I'll have to check it out. Nice choice for "I"!

I have never watched American Idol, I never have much time to watch television these days, (but a good writing friend of mine is hooked on it.)

I had actually stopped watching it because I thought it had become a little too mean-spirited. But I started again this year, to give it another shot after the Head Meanie left. ;) Load of talent this year, and I'm enjoying the more positive spin.

I enjoy the show but like many have said when a person shows their talent we shouldn't make fun of them. Not everyone has to win but their is such a thing as tact.. right? The talent is amazing!!

I've been an off-and-on fan since Season 2. I started losing interest the last few seasons, but I'm back to watching it again. I agree...The new judges gave it the refresher it needed. :)

Hope you have a great week, Jennifer!

I have watched AI off and on. I've seen a few this season but I haven't really been all that impressed. I find I miss Simon.

My family and I watched a couple of years of it, but are no longer interested in following it. Carrie Underwood was my favorite Idol winner.

I've watched it some, but I don't think I ever watched an entire season. I haven't seen the new judges yet. I do like the show. It's kind of like rooting for unpublished writers...only they're singers. I need more TV time!

I don't watch it but did wonder how things would go after Simon left. Just goes to show that there are other good judges around. :)

I don't normally watch American Idol but when I heard Steve Tyler was a judge, well I wasn't going to miss that!

Everything you said is exactly how I felt about the show. I wasn't going to watch it but this year is so much better! The judges are nice and helpful and you are right-- awesome talent--not some weird people just for the sake of the show. Now...another problem, who do I want to win????? I haven't picked my person yet, have you?

I haven't watched Idol in ages. It lost it's zing for me years ago, but then again I'm not a music buff, either. I'm glad you're enjoying it though. Everyone needs a favorite show!

I did not miss Simon or any of the other past judges. I LOVVVVVE the new judges and Randy. I LOVVVE JLo and I LOVVVVVVVVVVVE Steve Tyler. They are truthful in being themselves, there are no more dramas but real relationships that I see among them. I sooo enjoy this year's show.

So far, I had not been wrong in predicting the bottom two and very close on predicting who was leaving. I did not expect Casey to be voted out. I was not surprised at all Pia had to leave because everyone is so good in their own way. But I can tell you I cried so hard watching the ending of that show. I must have gone crazy to let myself be so involved with this reality tv.

I have been watching on and off this year, but I kind of miss Simon. Tyler is a stitch though. My idol pick got voted off so, I'll have to decide who to vote for next.

Rats! I've randomly watched different seasons of Idol over the years, but like you, I figured with Simon gone the show would be a total flop so I didn't watch it. Now I'm out of the loop! I love the "positive spin" idea. Maybe I'll have to check it out.

You know what show I'm hooked on now--that I never really watched much before? Dancing With the Stars! I love, LOVE Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley. Actually, I think I may be missing a show right now... ;o)

I watched American Idol for about five minutes a long time ago, and Simon was being so rude to some poor girl that I've never watched it again - it was just so uncomfortable I couldn't imagine why anyone would want to watch that! But I guess I missed the good parts, because so many people really do love it.

Mary Aalgaard said...

Nope, I don't watch it. I hated the idea of people putting their hopes and dreams on the line by winning a competition. And, I hated that music was a competition. And, it makes me think that only young people even get the chance. Glad the new judges are more positive.

I'm not a big fan of the show but I do catch some of the episodes when I can.

I've never gotten in to Idol. I can say I've never even watched more than about 5 minutes of that.
