Letters to the Future Blogfest!

The lovely and talented Kristin Rae at her blog Kristin Creative has decided to host a fun blogfest in celebration of her 300 Followers! (although now she's over 300 and growing so go join the bandwagon if you haven't already!) :-)

What's this blogfest all about? Well, on Wednesday, May 25th, (TODAY) write a letter to your future self and post it on your blog. Fun, huh? So without further ado, here's mine:

Dear Future Self:

Hello. How 'bout that ride in? I guess that's why they call it Sin City.
Self, I hope you don’t have Alzheimer’s and can remember what movie that’s from. It’s okay if you don’t. But man, that’s a real bummer if that’s the case because you would be chuckling.

I should know. I’m you.

Anyway, there is so much I want to say to you. First and foremost, you're welcome. I really keep up with the sunscreen ritual and the p90x workouts so I am sure that you look fantastic for your age and all your girlfriends are completely jealous.

Also, did you write that “BIG” book you kept saying you were going to write? You better have. And if you’re reading this letter now and haven’t done so, get on it. NOW. You’re not getting any younger. (Although I’m sure you look it) :)

Maybe your tastes have changed but right now you’re a sucker for Lisa Kleypas contemporary romance novels, Michael Kors shoes, are into the color purple, and will eat anything that has chipotle or cilantro in it. Thought you’d want to know that.

Also, go easy on the kiddo. You may be having issues with her since she’s a teenager, but right now she tells you she loves you and that you’re the best mommy in the world almost every day. Remember that before you ground her from now to eternity.

That’s all I wanted to say. That and congratulations on being nominated for that RITA award. I knew that all my hard work I'm doing now would pay off for you in the future.

With Love Always,
Old Self

Don't forget to check out Kristin's blog and read the other blogfest posts!

PS. What is going on with blogger now? I can't comment on anyone's posts!!! Grrr....

Great idea! Love your letter.

Since mine's short, I'll post it here:

Dear Self,

Um, sorry about that.

Blogger is misbehavin'. Needs to be grounded, for sure. Funny letter. I hope you don't get Alzheimer's, but if you do, I'll remind you that you're a great writer, and keep the stories comin'!

GREAT letter Jennifer!! I was definitely giggling along with the other commenters here. I especially love the part about how your future self is making everyone jealous by looking so young! Such a nice gift to yourself! :) (And a great reminder for all of us that sunscreen works and we need to use it!)

Thanks for playing along!

You should put it in a time capsule. :)

You are awesome. Like you, I'm not looking forward to the teenagers in my house, but I sure am glad for the reminder to be kind to them.

And I hope you get a RITA too.

Oh, I need to remember to go easy on my kids, too ... later. :) I need to keep pictures around of them as tiny children, smiling and looking adorable so I remember! Great letter! :)

Blogger is being really stupid. But I think if you log out and then log back in, making sure the "stay logged in" option is NOT checked, you'll be able to comment. Someone gave me that advice and it worked for me.

I love purple, chipotle and cilantro too! Though, since I've moved away from TX I have a harder time getting them :(. Congrats to you or your future self on the RITA award.

Well, if Mr. Bean can write himself birthday and Christmas cards, I guess we can write ourselves a few letters once in a while.
Such fun!
I usually need to login to my blog before posting ... and ... keep attempting to post until it finally works.
Also have trouble logging out - have to run a cleaner program to rid all of the hidden cookies.

Looks like technology and knowledge keep increasing right along with their associated annoying problems.

What a great letter. I hope you do get lots of awards.

I have problems with getting on blogs sometimes. I will wait for you if you want to come on mine.

Jennifer,
My commenting abilities right now are certainly 'hit or miss' so while I can I'm trying to visit so tt option continues to stay open for me.
I love the letter to your future self; how fantastic! and come to think about it, I think that is one of the reason I keep a blog; for my son to have a part of me when he is older and God forbid, if I'm gone. He will always have part of my heart.

Take care...

Super letter, Jen. I especially love the ending. So cool! :-)

I love your letter - keep up with that sunscreen!

I'm finally able to comment this morning, after nearly a week without being able to. It feels great to be back!!!

Love it!

I'm in the teen stage right now with my girls. Thanks for reminding me of years ago. I needed that!

Jennifer Hoffine said...

Great letter, esp about the teenager stuff. I'm getting lots of love now...I'll have to save those memories up for the future.

Ha, ha! I love your letter! Although I've unfortunately read it too late to participate in the Blogfest.

And I'm having a bunch of trouble with Blogger as well! I have to manually type in my name and blog URL because Google keeps calling me "Anonymous" when I try to comment. And all my followers are no longer showing up on my blog. If you find out what's going on, please share!

Great letter Jennifer :)
I especially liked the part about your daughter; mine just finished her first year of college...there never was a truer cliche than the old adages about how fast the time goes!

HA HA! LOL Fantastic idea ... just trying to figure out what I'd say to myself besides: Drink more coffee... :)

I am sooooo late to the party, but it's a great idea. The line about your 'kiddo' makes me want to grab my 3 year old and hug him-- if only he'd stay still long enough.

I don't know what the ettiquette on this type of thing is, so feel free to delete it if necessary, but...

I have been presented with an award and I wanted to pass it on to you! Enjoy! http://christykatemckenzie.blogspot.com/2011/06/irresistably-sweet-blog-award.html
