Friday Favorites #11

Happy Friday!

Wow, it's so weird not to be giving away a book today.
Seems like that's all I've been doing the past few Fridays.

Well, soon enough I'm sure. :)

This Memorial Day weekend we actually have...no plans. Wha? I know. Very weird. I'm sure we'll invite the hubby's parents over since they just got back from wintering in FL, but that looks like about it. Not that I'm complaining. It's nice to just have a weekend to relax.

The weather should be warm and sunny too.
Which kind of brings me to my Friday Favorite this week.

Some of you may or may not know, I often get complimented on my face. Well, my skin. But for good reason. UV rays rarely enter the barrier I create around it.

In short, I sunscreen. A lot.

Hubby calls me "eclipse". He thinks the sun goes in when I come out. LOL

But my personal favorite moisturizer/sunscreen that I use on my face is Healthy Wear Physicians Formula.

It's got an SPF of 50 plus it's tinted so I don't look all white and pasty. (AKA normal)
Then I follow it up with some Physicians Formula powder (also SPF 50) and I'm ready to meet the world!  (After I put on my eyeshadow, blush, and lip gloss, that is)

**This comes in especially handy living at the beach where I feel I'm outside all the time.

So yes, that's yet another glimpse into my little world.

Hope you have a nice Memorial Day weekend!!  And use your sunscreen!
Any plans?

I always use my sunscreen--I fry without it.

One thing to be careful of when you use sunscreen daily (like I do) is vitamin D deficiency. I had to go on mega-doses for a while to bring my levels back up to normal.

I make sure I use a moisturizer with sunscreen too. The sun is very strong down this end of the world.

You're right, Linda! I do take Vit D capsules (when I remember) LOL

I've got to find me this stuff. My moisturizer claims to have SPF of 30 but I wonder if that's true.

I like that it has a little tint in it. I'd say I'm like porcelain, but really it's more like cheap Correll. LOL

We're spending time with friends on Memorial and BBQing...Did you cringe? It's meat. :)

I had a small skin cancer that I had to have removed a few years back. I don't use the tanning bed, and I'm not particularly fair skinned. The doctor said it was just bad luck. I've been paranoid about too much sun ever since. Apparently, my mom thinks I've taken this healthy skin thing too far because she just gave me some self tanner and asks me every day if I've used it. LOL.

Oh man, I never use sunscreen. I don't use baby oil, but still...yikes!

And I'm so pumped to be chillin' for the weekend too. It's been TOO go go go lately.

SPF 50 is my kind of block!!

Seems like those weekends where you plan nothing is are the weekends you end up being the most busy. Enjoy!

Yay to you for taking care of your skin. (BTW, your skin does look gorgeous in your photo.)

I have to admit that I don't use sunscreen or makeup--except when I'm "going out." But I do wear a big floppy hat when I garden, so I don't get fried.

I always use SPF 50! Tanning isn't worth it because we're old a lot longer than we're young, LoL. And I want to look younger than my age when I'm a senior citizen!

The plan this weekend is a cookout at my parents'. It's also my sister's birthday next week, so we always celebrate that Memorial weekend. Fun times!!

Have a happy weekend, Jennifer!!

I hate being out in the sun because I burn and have had problems with my white and freckly skin. I do wear sunscreen when I have to be out with my grand kids.

The first product sounds great. I'll have to try to find it.

This weekend I plan to rest, and Sunday we are taking my son and daughter-in-law out to eat because she has finally finished her degree.

Hahah, good to know! Enjoy the summer. It is getting cold in this part of the world again and I am so glad it is. The heat is tiresome.

Awesome tip - and just the right time of year for it. Thanks! Enjoy the relaxing long weekend.

This sunscreen sounds great; thanks for the tip! I was just thinking today about Memorial Day weekend - as far as the contrast to where I used to live and where I live now. Previously, I'd not venture far on big holiday weekends, lest I get swallowed in traffic. Now, it's quite the opposite. You might know a little about what I'm talking about. :) Have fun with the family!

I love tinted sunscreen, because I'm white pasty too :) Thanks to Twilight that's a lot more acceptable, but still... ;-)

I use tinted moisturizer/sunscreen, too. LOVE it. Hope you're having a great weekend, Jennifer!

Wow! I need to protect my skin a little bit better (plus I have that pasty white skin, so even more reason to).

We didn't have plans this past weekend. It was so nice just to do whatever I wanted. ;)

I'm definitely one who burns after like five minutes in the sun, so these are great suggestions! Thanks.
