Book Fuss Friday

Happy Friday!!!

I'm introducing a new segment for the fall/winter called
BOOK FUSS FRIDAY.
I thought it would be fun to discuss books that have been fussed about around the Net or that I personally want to fuss about. I will probably take some quotes from others who want to fuss about a book too. The one caveat: you can't fuss about your own book. :-)

So basically I'll talk about a BOOK, it'll be every FRIDAY and there will be some FUSS.

Hence, the genius post title.

I know. I'm good.

Anyhew, on with the post... I've been seeing The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak on Facebook and Goodreads a lot lately. In fact, it's hard to believe this book was published in 2005 and not just last week.

I was at a Labor Day BBQ last weekend and I happened to mention this book to a friend. She says to me, "That's weird. I just bought that book on Saturday." (Her daughter has to read it as a Freshman in high school) She then went on to tell me that as she was leaving the bookstore, a woman saw the book in her hands and had to stop her to tell her that The Book Thief was one of her favorite books. LOL

Sheesh. Talk about a fuss!

So naturally, I went to my public library to check it out. I'm on the wait list now.

Hopefully, I'll get it this week. The librarian told me I'm first on the list. (Yay!)

How about you? Ever read The Book Thief? Have you being seeing a lot of fuss about it recently?

**If you have a book you'd like to fuss about or have been seeing some fuss about a book you haven't read yet, email me (jennifer AT jennifershirk DOT com) I want to see what all the fuss is about too!**

I haven't read this book or heard of it until this week. I've seen it on about five different blogs this week :)

Obviously I've been living under a rock since I've never heard of it ;) - Now I will have to check it out. Thanks...

Never heard of The Book Thief. Isn't it curious that fuss made in one circle isn't even a ripple in another?

But now I know, reading it on your blog. You're a bridge, Jennifer!

PS Thanks for the shout-out.

I haven't heard the fuss, but now I want to be in on it! I read all the "fuss" books! :)

I heard a lot of fuss about it a year ago. So I bought, but never read it!!

This is too funny. My daughter's been reading that book for the past month or so. Was on the wait list from the library for it, too. She's not reading it nearly as fast as she devoured THG. Cool idea--Fuss Friday :)

I read TBT when it first came out and really enjoyed it.

As for "fuss books," no one is making a fuss about "People of the Book," but it's one of the best novels I've read in years. (It's by Geraldine Brooks and was pubbed in 2008.)

I have that one sitting on my shelf! I haven't picked it up yet. I'll need to move it up on my list!

I haven't read The Book Thief yet, but I'm planning to when I come up for air. Let me know what you think of it.

And thanks for the shout-out about the release of In a Fix! :D

I read this book last year (my then 12 yr old son did too). It is amazing. You think about it long after you read it.

I haven't read it, but I find it encouraging that it's a 2005 release and going strong.

It sounds like an awesome story and being fussed is good, right?

Thanks Jennifer!

Funny how the books we hear about or don't hear about vary from person to person. However, I'm intrigued. A book that is being fussed over that has nothing to do with Christian Grey is something I want to look into. TheBook Thief is on my list now.

I haven't heard of it either! Sounds intriguing!

Let me know what you think!!
