Because my life isn't busy enough...

Let me just say it now.

We got a PUPPY.

I happened to see him online at a nice animal rescue and applied for adoption. After that--and them checking ALL my references-- it kind of happened fast. Needless to say, the kiddo is THRILLED.

I was looking for some kind of poodle mix so that there might be less chance of shedding and allergies since September. However, I was NOT looking to adopt a puppy, but there he was, and well, he was so cute. LOL He's only 8 or 9 weeks old and maybe 4lbs. Not much bigger than our guinea pig!

He's part poodle, part cocker spaniel, part beagle. He's not shedding (right now anyway) and I'm not having any allergy issues. He's black with white paws, so we decided to call him SOX--but we spelled that way to honor the Red Sox, too (who are playing extremely well right now, by the way)

Needless to say, I've been doing A LOT of research and reading The Puppy Whisperer (a present from my neighbor who just got a puppy a few months ago)

Here are some pictures:

No, he's not smoking
Sox before we took him home

So that's what's new with me.

What's new with you? Any puppy advice?

The baby is ADORABLE!

I'm a dog and puppy veteran, but I highly recommend taking her to puppy school when she's old enough. Petsmart has regular classes.

Re: potty training and teething
No matter how frustrating it gets, just remember she's a baby. She's not doing it deliberating, but only because she hasn't learned the ways of your pack yet.

Patience. :o)

What a cutie! No puppy advice, though. Except, maybe, to give lots and lots of kisses! :)

The payoff of having a dog is so worth the work! We got a rescued Jack Russell Terrier about a year and a half ago and she brings me MUCH pleasure. There's nothing quite so nice as having her snuggled up in the chair with me, wedged between me and the arm of the chair and the laptop on my lap as I write. Enjoy!

We used The Perfect Dog system for our Lab, and it worked really well. She's very obedient.

BTW, I'm allergic to dogs too. But regular bathing keeps the allergens manageable.

Oh, he's adorable. My only advice is to remember that the annoying things--eating your boots, your sofa, your hubcaps, your siding, your porch furniture--will pass. :) And in the middle makes for great blogging fodder! Trust me. :) Now our sofa-eating husky is a therapy dog for old age homes, mind you...I did catch him gnawing on a downspout last week. :(

He is so adorable!!! Congrats on your new family member, and I'm so glad you got him from a rescue, too!
My dad just got a puppy, and as much as he loves the pup, it's driving him a bit nuts. But I love the craziness of puppydom.
Have fun!!

He's adorable! We had a cocker-poodle mix when I was younger. I'll warn you - that mix likes to piddle when they get excited.

Awwwww. He's so CUTE!!!

I have no puppy advice. I prefer to get older dogs and avoid all the 'potty' training and chewing. :P

Congrats! Way too adorable! Mine are poodle mixes too. It's not zero shedding, but it's definitely less shedding.

He's so cute, but if I'd have known you wanted a dog, I'd have shipped you mine! :)

I'm relaxing over the summer. Down time. I need it. I'm all over it.
