Smaller, darker, stronger...

Happy Monday, all!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. Just wanted to let you all know that I AM alive and well. :)

I've taken on some new roles in my life and I didn't realize how much time these volunteer positions would be taking from me. But things are slowly starting to settle. So all good. For now.

Anyhew, getting back to my title: smaller, darker, stronger.
Um, those words are supposed to describe... ME.

Smaller:
I'm pretty thin now. (Part diet, part stomach flu) So much thinner that when my mom saw me recently she freaked and told me I need to gain weight and that she's afraid I have an eating disorder.

Really, mom?

Darker:
I went a little darker blonde in my hair color for winter.
I LOVE it!

Stronger:
Guess what?!
I started P90X3!! And it's GREAT! I love that each day is only a 30 minute workout yet still tough enough that I feel stronger and am getting toned. I feel awesome too. Although that first week I was sore, sore, sore.
My only complaint: yoga day.
I don't like yoga, but even I feel you need longer than 30 minutes. Other than that, I highly recommend. :)

Still working on edits right now. I'm having a very tough time with them. I think because I'm tightly connected to these characters and hesitant to change them. *sigh*
My editor isn't going to be happy with me...

That's it for me.
We will be hosting a Super Bowl party this Sunday. Hubby is making a chicken gumbo and I will be making Italian sloppy Joes (new recipe). I never eat at my own parties, so I'll probably just gorge on the veggie platter and drink my grapefruit cocktail.

How about you? Any plans for the Super Bowl?
What's your favorite Super Bowl food? I usually looooooove chili. Especially this vegetarian chili recipe my hubby makes, but he's making gumbo instead this year. Boo-hiss!!

Glad you're back and so sorry you had the stomach flu! It's been going around in our area too, and it's nasty.

I totally agree there's nothing like exercise to make you feel strong.

The local Buffalo Wild Wings is having a VIP party for the Superbowl, and seeing how my hubby and I don't have anything else better to do (and they think we're VIPs!), have decided to give it a try. Heck, there will be some free food anyway!

I've started getting back into my exercise routine by walking 30 minutes each morning on the treadmill. It's not much, but it's sure better than nothing. I'll be glad when it warms up so I can walk outside!

I've heard that training program is intense. I'm not a yoga person either.

Favorite Super Bowl food is potato wedgies. So bad and yet so good.

I love finger foods at Super Bowl parties. I always make buffalo chicken dip. It's a football game staple! Actually it's what I bring to every kind of party because everyone loves it. But it's especially prefect for football season!

Happy reading and writing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines

No plans for the Super Bowl. I couldn't even tell you who's playing.

Congrats on finding a workout routine that works for you. I would really like to find something I enjoy for next fall, when I will be officially retired from teaching and looking for things to take me away from the computer screen.

I think P90X would kick my butt, but it sounds like a great workout. I'm going to my dad's for Super Bowl. He's super excited because our Broncos are there. Yay! So excited, in fact, he sent out an invitation flyer, but put "Super Bowel Party" on it :) What's a super bowel? Good times!

As long as you feel happy and healthy, that's the main thing. I'm not a yoga fan either.

What is it that you dislike about yoga? There are different kinds of yoga too. I found one that works for me, but it isn't for everyone.

Re: thin
That's probably not a good word. Too many negative connotations. Now that your stomach flu is over, I'd like to think of you as healthy. :)

Your Italian Sloppy Joes sound good. If we have a lot of people, I make a Mexican Seven Layer Dip. I'll probably do that this year. Others will bring Rotel Dip, guacamole, and and salsa. Who knows what else.

Would it be a sin to say that I've never really watched football...but I love the Superbowl commercials? (Wincing...don't throw tomatoes).

I need to get back into exercise. I write and feel better when I do.

I will need to look into that training program! I have been going to the gym (75 lbs to lose... 30lbs down) but with the weather this week, I could to go. I decided to do a workout DVD. I'm always sore from the gym, so thought I would try yoga. But like you, I, not a huge fan of it. I bought. Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown! It is FANTASTIC! It is NOT yoga. I uses all of the moves. But it is a cardio workout. That woman is fantastic. She kills me. But in just five days I can see a HUGE difference in my body. It is a 30 minute workout. I don't normally like workout DVDs. But this one is fantastic. So maybe that's something you could do on your yoga day instead? I don't know?

Please don't be offended -- but since you're putting it out there .... I will confess that the thought crossed my mind as well. Especially when you were excited to be so teeny tiny.

Cheers and boogie boogie.
