Boogie Night Weekend

IN THE NEWS: "Giant lobster roll rolls into Portland, Maine". Read more HERE. Yum!

I had THE best weekend. Why? Thanks for asking. I'll tell you. :)

I have a friend who celebrated her 40th birthday this past weekend. I guess it's a pretty big milestone, so her hubby wanted to do something particularly fun for her. (Which turned into something particularly fun for everyone involved)

He invited all her close friends to a great restaurant on the bay to surprise her. There, her hubby paid for drinks for everyone and had floating appetizers outside on the water. It was a great night for it, too!

Then...her hubby rented a couple of van/buses to take everyone who wanted to go to Atlantic City to go dancing at Boogie Nights. In case you didn't know...

Boogie Nights - Winner of the 2009 Atlantic City Nightlife Award for “Best Retro Club” and “Best Place to Bring a Date” is the grooviest nightlife hot spot is at Resorts.
It's the ultimate 70's and 80's dance club every Friday and Saturday night.

They played THE best dance music and had funny old TV clips (like Starsky and Hutch and The Brady Bunch) playing in the background. We had so much fun!

I would say only three bad things that happened that night:
1) Someone stepped on my toe and ruined my pedicure--that I JUST got less than 8 hours prior. Grr....

2) $4 bottles of water

3) We left at midnight. I could have EASILY stayed longer. :)

I haven't gone out to a club to dance in like...I don't know, maybe 11 years.
Seriously, I can't wait to go back. :)

When was the last time you went out dancing?

Ooh, Jennifer, that is my idea of a fantastic, fun evening! I used to love to dance and haven't done it in decades (except for a friend's birthday party a couple of years ago where I danced a few songs with my sister ...)

Glad you had a good time.

Hi, Jennifer. I have two left feet, so although I enjoy watching people dance, getting up there myself is a definite no-no.

Glad you had a wonderful evening!

Oh, no! Trust me, Eileen, there were so many people on the dance floor, you would have "blended". LOL!

What fun! Except the ruined pedicure; bumminess.
I danced at my daughter's wedding over eight years ago. My husband doesn't dance, so my daughter had to trick him into it by having the dj announce, "And now the bride and her father..." otherwise he would not have agreed. When he put his hand on her shoulder, he was embarassed by her off the shoulder sleeve, so he pulled it up! I can still hear her saying, "Daaaaad, it's supposed to be like that!"
Thanks for reminding me of a happy moment,
jen

What a fantastic time..and I agree...midnight...really?????? Around here, the clubs just start getting fun at midnight!! (But they're open till 4)

There used to be a place similar to that at Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney in Orlando. SUCH a fun time...loved the retro tunes!! But sadly, it is now closed. All the clubs on PI are closed :(

Haven't been out dancing in a while...the club scene around here is mostly very young 20-somethings. And then there are the clubs that let in 18 and over. I do remember one really fun time a couple years ago..my friend's stagette party...we ended up at a bar/restaurant and they had a disco band on stage...who saw we were a stagette party and called us up on stage...we were up there for like 3 songs dancing with them while they played...so so cool!!

My husband would love that place! Well, I would too. I love to dance. It's been way too long since I have.

LOL! That sounds like so much fun! What a great hubby she has. I love to dance too, but I'd be afraid to go out dancing because I have no rhythm. I'd scare people.
But you sound like you had a blast! :-)

OMG that sounds like so much fun! There was a great club we went to in college that used to have an 80s night and it was always such a blast!

Oh my! Sounds like so much fun! I grew up in a church that did NO dancing. Whatsoever. So...I can't dance. At all! My family laughs at me running, so I am sure I would be a spectable out on the dance floor! lol

Sounds like fun! We don't dance (in public anyway) for religious reasons, but if you count dancing to music in the kitchen with my kids, about 2 weeks ago! ;oD

Ooh, I haven't been dancing for ages. I guess the wee boogie movements I do while walking the dog don't count, right? ;)

It sounds like you had a great time.
