Creative Writing

MENTAL STATUS: "Happy". Complexion is looking better, but haven't had a mango in over a week.

It's June first and I'm already scared.

Scared because I ripped the May calendar sheet off this morning and saw that June is completely booked AND there's only three weeks left of school!

Can I faint now?

Okay. The real reason that I'm worried is that once school is out, I have to figure out a whole new writing routine for the summer, which I really hate doing. I'm happy in my little writing ritual. Besides, I fear change. The hubby calls me the "The Clam" because of that.
(Once I settle into something I bury in deep and it's hard to dig me out--hence the name.)

So to avoid the usual worry of trying to get creative with how & when I write, I've decided to set a goal for this month: To finish my work-in-progress before school lets out.

Yep. It's true. I'm on a mission. No foolin'. In fact I'm starting right now...

Now...

Okay, now.

Does your writing time go down in the summer?

I'm a homeschooler, so I actually have MORE time in the summer since I'm not teaching and grading! Of course, when you figure in the time I spend outside in the garden... hmm... maybe it evens out.

You'll figure it out :-)

LOL! The Clam... *chuckling* That's too cute.

No, I don't think mine will change all that much. Still got three rowdy kids to chase around. LOL But I'm hearing all around the blogosphere about changes in routine. Good luck with yours. I hope you find the perfect schedule. :-)

Thankfully my kids are grown and my schedule doesn't change. During the summer I've scheduled afternoon a week to take the grands to the movies, but that's the only change.

You can finish Sunni's story in three weeks. Go for it!

Hope you can meet your goal! I'm actually hoping to squeeze in more writing time during the summer. We'll see if that happens! :)

Since I homeschool little man...I'm hoping I'll have a little more free time if the oldest is home to keep him busy while I write.

Oh, Jennifer, I feel your pain. Today is the magical no-more-school day for me and I actually woke up with knots in my stomach!

My goal is to continue waking up early and working before the kids get up. Hey, it worked today! I may have to squeeze in work time in the afternoon, too. We'll see. I hope I can find a system that works for my whole family.

Good luck!

I love my sleep but getting up early in the summer is very nice.
I think I might have to try that.

Mine doesn't change in the summer, since I have no kids still at home.
Blessings on your goal of finishing your WIP!

I can't wait for summer! Then I can finally focus more on writing, and less on everything else!!!!

I guess I have the reverse situation. I homeschool and it's a dream to have summer where I can sit and write guiltlessly (around vacation's and beach time of course ;)

Mine goes up. Although I work away from home year round, the end of the school year means the end of the drop-off/pick-up cycle and of the endless school activities. The kids get a break, and so do I. As a result, I have more energy and I use the summer as a "focus on me" time, which includes my writing.

My little guy is still too little for the summer to change our schedule any, but I'm sure once he starts school this will be something I'll have to struggle with.

Good luck on your goal of finishing - you can do it!

Wow 13000 words in June. That's a big goal! I'll bet you can do it though! Good luck! As for my writing time, it remains the same regardless since my wee little munchkins haven't started school yet.

I definitely write more in the summer since I work for a school and have summers off! Plus, all my kids are teens and are pretty self-sufficient. It also helps that they sleep super late! :)
