Feeling Mushy

MENTAL STATUS: "Mushy". Getting all teared up over my wip progress. The Cinderella-ness of it is moving me.
My writing has been slow (it always is) but steady so far. I have to say, I was little surprised to find that I'm 40% done with this new story already.

Who knew?

Anyhew, as I was writing yesterday, I came to the part where the heroine first sees the hero. Thus, I needed to describe him. Hmm... I really didn't have a clear picture of him this time. I just knew vaguely what I wanted.
So--I NEVER do this by the way--I went hunting for pictures of my characters.
<------ This is "Sam"
(I know he looks a lot like Patrick Dempsey.
LAY OFF!!)

And this is "Sunni"---------------->
Doesn't she look like a Sunni?

(Yes. I do know that she looks an awful lot like Kate Bosworth. You can shut up now!) She's Sunni.

Anyhew, it's kind of funny, but having pictures of my characters really is helping me write. I don't know why I didn't do this sooner.

Do you have actual pictures of your characters when you write?

Beautiful couple! I have to find pictures of all my characters. Can't write without being able to visualize them.

Sometimes I have pics, but more often than not, I never find anyone who fits the image in my head. I can usually get close, but not exact. And sometimes, I don't fully know what my characters look like. I mean, I know their characteristics, but to get a lock on their face...not so much. And I'm okay with that. Readers will see them as they want to.

No one will ever know these two were your inspiration unless their on the cover your book or they read your blog. That picture definitely makes her look like a "Sunni." Maybe they'll play Sunni and Sam in the movie. ;oD

I have never thought about going and looking for pictures to help me. But your pictures are awesome..and those two look like they would be so good together. She looks so warm and a bit idealistic, but could give him a run for his money while he is to die for that, that he'd fall for her in a minute yet be wary of his feelings for her. Ok--maybe that's not like your story-but I love your characters already!

It's funny because I was thinking about this the other day. I never use pictures and decided that I might try it for a new series I'm thinking about writing. Great minds think alike!

I have never tried that before, but it is a very cool idea! Now if you put any of this book up for crit, they will be exactly who I am seeing in my head.
