At the Movies: UP

MOOD STATUS: "Tired". My hats off to any and all teachers.

Last week I took my daughter and her friend to see the movie UP.

It was only $5 a person if you go before noon!

PS: I didn't realize it was PG. Not for anything bad, but the beginning is kind of sad/heavy. Fortunately, it sailed right over the four year-old's head.

Regardless, this movie was AWESOME. I cried (YES, TEARS!!), I laughed, and then I got the sniffles at the end again. Finally a movie made for kids that's not all slapstick. Plus, I loved that the two main characters are an old grumpy man (whose wife has passed away) and a chubby little boy (whose parents are divorced).

Up has a beautiful message in it. It's the kind of movie that children and adults can love.

**side note** The four year old I was with was a little bored in the first 15 minutes of the movie, where the director was setting up WHY the old man is the way he is. Not a big deal and not the four year-old's fault. She just wanted immediate action. But... once he and the little boy started their adventure, she was hooked along with the rest of us. :)

Check out the trailer: It's SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!

What was the last movie you've seen?

The last kiddie movie I saw was Monsters Vs. Aliens, which was hilarious. The grandkids loved it.

The other one was Fast and Furious. You know I can't allow a Vin Diesel movie to open without being there to ogle ...

It was surprisingly poignant for a movie I thought was going to be for kids. When he was going through that photo album, I cried. I didn't want my boyfriend and his daughter to see how much I was crying so I held back a lot but I tear up just thinking about that scene.

My kids want to see this. Glad you liked it too. We love to watch the animated movies with the kids and it doesn't sound like we'll be disappointed.

I've heard it was a great movie. My kids are a little old for it (or at least they think they are), so I'll probably wait until it comes out on video.

We did the same...little man was a bit squirmy but settled in pretty quick once the action began. I think we last saw Ice Age 3. He's wanting to see Aliens in the Attic.

Thanks for the review, Jennifer! Sounds like a great summer movie to take my kids(age 6 & 10) to see.
I just hope it's still playing near me!

I'm dying to see that movie! I don't think I'll brave the theater with the almost 4 year old though if the first 15 minutes are slow. He's very...umm...energetic. :-D

Am I the only one who didn't like it. My daughter did cry age 8, but I kept on wanting to stand up and scream "Let go of the house". It frustrated me I guess, I want to see people set free!
