O' Christmas Tree

IN THE NEWS: German police find pot plant adorned as Xmas tree. Read more HERE.

GIFTS TO BUY: Still 5 (but going shopping again today)

So the Christmas tree went up the other day. <-- This is it in all its splendor. It's actually late for us in getting the Christmas tree up. I like it up and decorated as soon as humanly possible after Thanksgiving.

I'm one of those people who move right into the next holiday. But I don't like my holidays to cross over. For example:No turkey talk until after Halloween. And of course, no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.
Let's keep our holidays straight, people. :)

But anyhew, back to the Christmas tree... It's fake, yes. Allergies and my vacuuming obsession keep us from getting a real one. But one of the little traditions we do (for our fake tree) is buy an ornament from wherever we've visited that year. We didn't really take any major vacations this year but we did got to Boston to take the kiddo to a Red Sox game
<----
Thus the ornament of Fenway Park here.

-->this little gem is from our trip to Atlantis in the Bahamas a few years ago.

<--

Disney

-->this one I just threw in because the kiddo made it out of an old CD and I thought it was neat. :)

That's it for me this Friday. I'm off to shop in about an hour and then will stop by the rest of your blogs to catch-up later.

PS. Erin Kern was sweet enough to want to interview me today. So stop on by if you get a chance. No giveaway. Just random pointless info about myself. :)

How about you?

Is your tree up yet? Real or fake? Do you collect ornaments or have any special traditions with them?

That's a beautiful tree! I can't believe it's fake.

I'll be doing some traveling this year so I wasn't planning on decorating. But I've been seeing so many posts with people's Christmas trees that I feel I should do a little something. I want to get Christmasy too.

this is sad but it does not feel christmassy here - no snow and since we are traveling, I'm not putting up a tree that my toddler will only climb and break, maybe next year.
I like the CD ornament the best and I collect ornaments for my son.

I love ornaments from our travels. I also have a collection of ornaments from when I was a child. We put up a fake tree b/c I don't like to wait. My husband is from Oregon so he likes a real tree, but they dry out so quickly. I don't like the mess.

I've been trying to get Monster Baby to pick up the playroom so we can get a tree. She refuses. I keep telling her Santa won't come if we don't have a tree but I think one of her little friends told her there is no Santa.

I'm thinking no tree this year.

Gorgeous tree! Same with me on the allergies. I can't even handle those rosemary plants shaped like christmas trees in the house.

Oh, and I forgot to add that I love the way it's snowing on your blog! :)

We've always had a fake tree. We upgraded to a larger tree last year - so I need more ornaments to fill it.

Lovely tree!

Our tree (fake) is up but not yet decorated. We've been waiting until we can all get together at the same time to do that -- tonight, I hope. :)

Yes, our tree is up. This is the first year we bought a fake tree, or as we like to say, 100% faux! Last year, our real tree brought a nest of neverending spiders into our home, and that took care of real for us! Happy Friday :)

I love the ornaments!

Our tree is up and it's fake (I agree with the allergies and vacuuming). Plus I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to put it up. It just seems right that way. =)

Lovely tree! Ours is up and decorated. No presents under there yet though.

I read about the giant pot plant this morning!!!

I love your ornaments--what a great way to remember times you spent with your family!

Our tree is up, looking sad without too many ornaments but it's filled with presents underneath and that makes it more festive :)

I think next year we're going to completely redo our tree with a whole new theme or color or if we get ambitious we might make all our ornaments throughout the year.

I love that you buy ornaments from places you visit! Our real tree is up and decorated. A lot of ornaments our kids have made at different events, were gifts, or handed down. It's like a big old walk down memory lane! :)

You tree looks wonderful! The tree is my favorite Christmas decoration. I always put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love decorating it! I wish decorating trees was a profession, lol.

We have an artificial tree, too. Mine is the one my parents got when I was 4 years old. They gave it to me when I married and moved out. It's 21 years old this year and it still looks real. :)

My husband's Omah has given her grandchildren one or two ornaments every year since their births, and since we got married she sends me one every year, too. So that's really nice of her! And I try to get ornaments when we go on special trips or celebrate a special event.

I have many many special ornaments! My all-time favorite is a zebra painting her stripes red to get ready for Christmas. My aunt got that for me when I was 11. :)

It's snowing on your blog! How cool! We always put up our tree the first weekend after Thanksgiving. My two real good friends and I did an ornament exchange for several years. We recently switched to books. So i have lots of special ornaments that remind me of my two friends.

We have the real/fake debate every year. We were given a fake one for free years ago and it's pretty spiffy so we go with that, but I miss the smell of a real.

Cool to see some of your ornaments. Great idea.

Definitely! Don't want to hear other holiday talk/music/planning until after the first one is done! You're tree is lovely! And that story sounds hilarious. Gonna head over now to read!

Wow, that's crazy man. They should really try to do something to fix that.

Awww, your tree looks GREAT! Thanks for sharing!

Lovely tree! I have plenty of CD ornaments myself. ;) Love your specialty ornaments! I try and buy them when we travel, but somehow they mysteriously disappear. Could it be my organizational methods? Nah...

terrific points and I am into the post but what about the ugly issue of collusion in online poker?

The tree is gorgeous. I'm a slacker; we're going to get our tree this afternoon. I let the kids decorate it, so it's never quite as pretty as it used to be ;)

What a beautiful Christmas tree! I always love it when the old fashioned tinsel is used & what special ornaments you have.

I agree about no Christmas music or decorating until after Thanksgiving.

What a pretty christmas tree! Ours went up the day after Thanksgiving and it took forever to put it up! But it looks so pretty now. And it's totally fake, but still pretty. :)

Hello, I stopped by your blog. I like to collect an ornament when I travel so putting the ornaments up brings back memories of lovely vacations.

Pretty tree! I'm like you- I can't start a holiday until the first one is finished. BUT this was the first year I put a couple christmas stuff up before thanksgiving. But I had time, and the decorations out, plus people were coming to our house (and theywon't be for christmas) so I wanted it to look pretty :)

Cute ornaments! That's a good idea to get one from everywhere you've been. I'll have to think about that for our next vacation!

That's too cute with the toys under there! I'm slightly jealous of countries where the tradition is to put up the Christmas tree so early - in Norway we normally wait till December 23rd. But then I think we leave it up longer after Christmas, often till about two weeks into January.

Anyway, your tree is beautiful, and it makes me want to decorate my own home! Love your blog, by the way! :)
