A to Z Blog Challenge: N is for...

Happy Sunday, all!

Today is the hubby's birthday so this post is going to be quick!

N is for: New Jersey! (seriously)

Few people know that New Jersey is actually called the "garden state" for a real reason and has some of THE best beaches in the country. (And where I happen to be from)

So here's some cool facts for you:

**New Jersey has the highest population density in the U.S. An average 1,030 people per sq. mi., which is 13 times the national average.

**Picturesque Cape May holds the distinction of being the oldest seashore resort in the United States and one of the most unique.

**New Jersey has the most diners in the world and is sometimes referred to as the diner capital of the world. (Hubby actually told me this fact when were dating which I thought was interesting)

**North Jersey has the most shopping malls in one area in the world with seven major shopping malls in a 25 sq. mile radius (woo-hoo)

**The light bulb, phonograph (record player), motion picture projector were invented by Thomas Edison in his Menlo Park laboratory (you're welcome)

**New Jersey is the only state in the nation which offers child abuse prevention workshops to every public school.

**The first intercollegiate football game was played in New Brunswick, in 1869. Rutgers College played Princeton. Rutgers won (my alma mater)

**Famous people from NJ: Jon Bon Jovi, Judy Blume, Jack Nicholson, Frank Sinatra, Meryl Streep, Jon Stewart, and Kelly Ripa (to name a few)

Do you live in the U.S? What state are you from?

Born and raised in PA, I'm a hop, skip, and a jump from New Jersey. I have a few relatives and friends who live in NJ. The Jersey shore has been my summer beach destination of choice! We used to go to Ocean City or Sea Isle City when I was a kid, then we started going to Avalon and Stone Harbor when I got older. I've visited Atlantic City and Cape May a few times. Some of the Cape May beach houses are so gorgeously old-fashioned!

Happy Birthday to your hubby! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

I drove through New Jersey one time - on the turnpike - from south headed through to just south of Boston - the views were not pleasant - though I've been told that the view from the turnpike is definitely not representative of the rest of the state! Thanks for the fun post! Cheers!

All kinds of fun information! Meryl Streep and Jack Nickolson are two of my favorite actors.

Darn it..I could have done new york for my N post!! I am from NY, the western part to be exact (Buffalo). I have to point it out because whenever anyone says they are from NY, people automatically assume NYC..like there isn't a whole lot of state outside NYC limits!

When I was a kid we spent many a summer at Bradley Beach, and then when I was in college, we often went to Point Pleasant :)

No mention of Springsteen in famous NJites?

Who would have thought New Jersey was sooo cool? Me!
I'm going to the seaside tomorrow: Winchelsea and Rye.
(Don't the names sound amazing?! ;)

It makes New Jersey sound appealing. I have lived in a few states: California, Utah, Arizona, and Idaho. I have always wanted to go east.
