A to Z Blog Challenge: O is for...

Good morning! This week is spring break week for the kiddo so that's always...fun.

No, kidding. It is fun. :)

Anyhew, speaking of fun, let's get to the letter O.

O is for:

Olivia Newton John!

(Again, seriously)

I completely LOVED Olivia Newton John when I was young. I even belonged to her fan club.

I owned NINE of her albums (most of them were country).

Hers was my very first concert I ever went to (with my dad). He was also a fan. It was the 1980 Physical Tour. I saw it in Philadelphia.

When Grease came out in the movies, I saw it three times that opening weekend. Once with my parents, once with my one older brother, and another with my other older brother. :-) I was only 7 or 8, so I actually question my parents allowing me to see this movie, but a lot the actual story went right over my innocent little head. I just loved the music!

I gave myself bangs and asked for a perm because I wanted to look just like Sandy. (My hair ended up looking more like Gilda Radner's.)

It's funny because I thought she had the best voice evah, and now when I listen to her, I think, "Meh." Still good, but I wonder why I was so gaga. :)

Remember her other movies, Xanadu (another album I owned) and Two of a Kind? I saw both them at least three times too. Like a said, I was a complete ONJ geek (until high school, anyway).

(She still looks great for her age too!)

Were you a member of any fan clubs growing up? What was the first concert you ever went to?

I still love watching Grease. Esp. the songs. Just love it. Except now that I'm older I understand the dirty lyrics. Holy cow!

I didn't join a fan club, but I went completely gaga over West Side Story. Saw it numerous times and actually wore the vinyl out playing the album so many times. Oh...Bernado!

Cracking up at your hair looking like Gilda's! Too funny.

I wanted to be in the BeeGees fan club in 6th grade - because of Grease and Saturday Night Fever songs! (Just a little behind the times, here.) However, it took them 2 years to send me information! When I got it, it looked printed off a computer, so my family joked it had never happened before and they had to whip something up!

I liked Johnny Depp and River Phoenix. Had Tiger Beat posters of them on my wall. Fan clubs...hmm. I don't think so.

I got chills. They're multiplying...that one was for you!

I LOVE ONJ! Did you see her cameo on Glee a while back? It was phenomenal and she still looks amazing.

I love Grease. She's absolutely phenomenal with whatever she does, and she's Aussie as well so that doesn't hurt.

I love Grease! I remember the first time I saw it was at a birthday party when I was 8 or 9. Like you, I just loved the music and dancing. It wasn't until I got older and realized what it was about that I was like, Ooops! Good thing I was naive and only into the music when I was a kid, lol.

This'll show my age, but I was a huge David Cassidy fan.

I think the first concert I went to was a David Cassidy one. My sister and I were pretty young; our brave father took us. Must have been some kind of experience for him!

I had it pretty bad for Rick Springfield. I remember wearing a T-shirt with his "iron on" it! Yeah, I'm Jesse's girl! :) lol My first concert was Slippery When Wet, Bon Jovi. Skid Row opened up for them. I may have to listen to my 80's hair band CD on the way to get the kids from school!

It is kind of funny the people we go "gaga" over. I think of the "role models" we have today and how people go crazy for them. It is no wonder they don't seem to stick around as long as they used to.

Ha. Octopus crossed my mind too.

Loved Olivia N-J in Grease, perfect. ;-))

I used to twist scarves and tie them like Olivia did in her hair when I was in high school. I loved her look! But could never wear those leather pants from Grease.

I loved her in Grease. I was living in England at the time, but we moved to Houston soon after. I thought Grease represented what the US looked like. Yeah, maybe twenty years before that. :D

That is so funny. I also loved Grease.

Well, believe it or don't - the very same one you went to - albeit in St. Louis, Mo. ONJ. Wow, what a crush I had on her! Xanadu was one of the first movies I ever rented on videocassette - it was on BETA - because I'd missed it at the theater. My mom had taken me to Grease - and she took me to the concert too. I saw Two of a Kind with my brand new driver's license. And to answer the other question - I belonged to Elvira's fan club! Great post! Cheers!

I have a friend who LOVES Olivia Newton-John! I enjoyed Grease, but I've never really understood the appeal.

Yep, I remember watching Olivia Newton John in Grease. I have some of her songs on a cassette tape, somewhere.

When "Xanadu" was in the theater, it was back when, if you didn't leave you could watch as many showings as you wanted.

It was summer. I went first thing in the morning and stayed past dinner.

Every day.

I made an outfit just like the muses wore in the movie.

I see your ONJ fan-girl-itis and raise you some serious scary stalker love.

LOL...

As a sidenote, it was playing with "Somewhere In Time" (remember double features?) so I saw that just as many times! :-P
