Getting Ready for New York City!

Well, all this week I've been getting myself ready for the RWA National Convention that is next week in New York City!

I've been to writer's conventions before but this is my first National one, so I already know I'm going to be constant mental overload. But who cares? I'll look good at least!

Toenails are painted.

Hair is trimmed. (Although not colored and now I'm mad at myself for not coloring it because my roots are taunting me.)

Nevertheless I'm really excited about the Avalon Books party I was invited to on Wednesday night. Since Avalon is located in NYC, they're having the party there so I'll get see what my publishing house actually looks like and meet my editor in person! Exciting!
I'm wearing this cute black dress that I got at Marshall's for $12.
Ooops. I probably shouldn't admit that but my girlfriend was quite upset at my find because she bought a similar dress at Anthroplogie for at least six times the price.

And check out these shoes I'm wearing with my dress:

I'm already 5'8 so don't ask me why I decided to buy 4 1/2 inch heels.

But...what the heck. You only break your neck once. LOL

I volunteered to help out with registration on Wednesday morning. So of course that means I miss the Samhain breakfast. (figures) And then I decided to be extra nice and volunteer to help out with editor/agent appointments Thursday afternoon and as a result I'm missing the ONE workshop I really really really...REALLY wanted to go to. (Again, figures) But that's okay. I'll live.

I guess...

Anyhew, I skimmed the workshop schedule a few times and already have a good idea of what I plan on taking (although I'll probably change my mind a few times from now until then).

So if you'll be at the RWA convention, be on the look out for the amazon wearing the animal print shoes and stop me to say HI (or catch me if I start to look wobbly). :)

Have you ever been to Nationals? What's your favorite writer's convention?

I've never been to a writer's convention so may I please comment on your shoes instead? They are gorgeous! Please tell me they're not new though, or that you're bringing flats too :)

They ARE new. But I've been wearing them around the house to break them in. LOL

Sounds awesome! Have a great time meeting your editor. And that's how it works - my critique or volunteer times are always during the one workshop I really wanted to go to! Have a blast!

Love the shoes! I can here the theme song in my head as you walk in. "This place's about to bloow!" LOL Have a great time. Take lots of pics. Can't wait to hear the fun stories. Especially the ones you shouldn't tell. I'll give you my email address for those. ;)

Maybe you could ask someone to switch shifts so you can go to the workshop that you really want. It's worth asking. You don't always have to be self-sacrificing. Love the shoes - break a leg! No, that's in theatre. Walk carefully, is what I meant.

I'm so jealous! How typical that the one thing you really wanted to go to clashes with something else!
And I'm loving the shoes!!
I've already got my wardrobe planned for the RNA conference in the UK this year, but it's small in comparison with yours! Have fun and come back and tell tales!

Wow, now I wish I was going just so I could see you! Take lots of pictures, girl! And those shoes are hawt! Has your husband seen those? I'm not sure mine would let me out the door in them. ;) BTW I want some book updates from you! What is going on in your writing life? New books coming out? (hopes Blog posts ensue).

LOL, those are WAY cute shoes! I can't imagine walking in them for long (I'm not a normal heel-wearer) but you'll sure look smokin' when you wear them!

Hope you have a great time at the convention (dare I say break a leg? I think not, given the shoes, lol).

I'm going to a National Conference in August, and painting toenails is on my list of things to do.

Don't worry about your roots--everyone else will be thinking of what you think of their roots!

Love the shoes, but I couldn't do them. More power to you!

Have fun! Love
Jen

Love the shoes, and what a dress bargain! I tried to do last minute shopping today, but it only served to confirm that I need to lose more weight LOL.

I'll be on the lookout for you!

I've never gone to a RWA conference. I've attended smaller ones in Cincy when the OVRWA had weekend conferences (Debbie Macomber and Sharon Sala were guest speakers at them) and went to 3 of Lori Foster's Reader-Author events here in Cincy.

Hope you have a blast! Your shoes are cute!

I just love those shoes! And your manicured toes will be peaking out them nicely. There are romance writers conferences in my area but I have not yet attended one. They do sound informative and fun. Have a great time!
