Why I Need an IPhone

Happy Friday, all!!
In case you haven't seen me much around the Internet, it's because...

Well, I haven't been around much on the Internet.

The crit partners and I are in the middle of a Write-a-Thon right now, and I'm trying desperately to log in some extra written pages on my new wip.

Anyhew, let me explain the title of my post.

I was in New York City last weekend as I mentioned on Monday's post with three other couples. (We usually do an annual trip together)

We go to dinner at Tao (excellent restaurant by the way) and everybody decides that we'll sit boy-girl but you can't sit next to your own spouse. Fine. So I'm wedged between my friend's hubby and my other friend's brother.

I'm not feeling too hungry at this point because we had a giant late lunch, so I'm looking for something on the lighter side. I immediately see Squab lettuce cups and think, "Mmm...that sounds nice and light."

So I turn to my friend's hubby (we'll call him FH) and ask him if he knows what squab is. I figure he's a foodie, so he should know.

He doesn't.

FH: You want me to Google it?

Me: (forgetting he has an Iphone) Oooh, yeah. Would you?

FH: No problem. (He then whips out his phone)

A few seconds go by then we both learn that squab is... PIGEON.

FH: Hmm...now that was a good one to Google.

Ya think?

Eww. That was close.

And now I am forever indebted to the growing technology available at our fingertips.

In short: I need an IPhone.

I thought I'd mention this now since Christmas is around the corner. :-)

Do you have Internet capability on your phone? Do you have IPhone envy too?

Good luck with the writing! And thank God for the iphone! :)

I don't even have a cell phone. But I did know what squab was. And it's not really as bad as you think. They're not rat pigeons from the city, they're bred like chickens, and taste a lot like duck, kind of gamey, lots of dark meat.

Good luck with your writing.

Alas, no smart phone for me. My cell phone is still dumb. ;)

LOL, Smart phones definitely come in handy, don't they? Enjoy the rest of your Write-a-thon!

To keep from eating pigeon, I'd get an iPhone too!!! Makes sense.

iPhones are the besto, although I can't really say, "I haven't had time to check my email, yet. Sorry." :)

Pigeon? Gross. What did you eat?

I don't but wish I did but am too cheap to pay the extra but one of these days! My husband has it on his work phone and we have googled mapquest a few times. It helps!

Yep, I've got I everything envy. We don't even have an iPod. Guess you could say we're pretty frugal. ;)

Yeah for The Boss. Keep singing (oh great, now I sound like Ursula).

Whew! Good thing there was a smart phone at the table. My hubby has an iPhone, which comes in handy more than I ever realized, especially with its GPS capability.

My hubby is constantly pulling his blackberry out to look up stuff. Smartphones are definitely handy!

I have an iPhone. Not the new iPhoneS with Siri. Still it's the easiest phone I've ever learned to use. And I love it. I do a lot of waiting so it's a good source of keeping up with work or entertainment.

I don't have an IPhone. My son has a phone where we found a "Goofy" song for my grandson. My son just found it and played it. That was so cool.

I'm sure I'm not ready for any fancy phone just yet, though.

I love my iphone, but I'm worried I'm getting a little addicted to it. :)

I just got an iphone about 2 weeks ago. I don't think I've come close to exploring all its capabilities yet, but I'm loving it!

You know, I need an iPhone too. Haven't had any near misses with squab, but you never know when it will come in handy!

I don't have iPhone envy like my husband. I think he's getting one soon.

Yes, it would be nice to look up something spur of the moment. I really wish I had it in the car. When I hear a song I want to download later, instead of writing lyrics down on the nearest piece of paper at a red light, I could just hold the phone up. That would be cool.

Good luck writing!

Yes, I'm right with you. There are days I think everyone on the planet has one except me.

Happy Weekend.

P.S. - I haven't been around the internet much either. Major editing project.

'Google it!' has become a daily phrase around my house. I hate to admit it, but the salesman was right when he said I wouldn't know how I lived without my smartphone once I had one.

Oh yes, I do want one!! My hubs has one and I'm jealous all the time. lol

I have a "smart" phone with internet capability that is undoubtedly alot smarter than I am...I'm sure there are hundreds of things that it can do that I don't know about, lol.

Good luck with the writing!

Good luck with your write-a-thon and your WIP. God blessed me with an iPhone and I don't know what I would do without it. I use it for everything. I have a cool writing software program on it and a few writing apps that I love.

This should be on your Christmas list, for sure.

Well I hope you get your iphone. I keep hoping I'll get a sat nav as my sense of direction in the car could be better and I cannot map read and drive at the same time and my geography is terrible LOL!

I have an iPhone...typing this reply from it, too! Please excuse bad spelling. ;) I get distracted by the apps and fin that shopping has never been easier thanks *to* the iPhone and its apps. Banking is easier, too.

I hate being so reliant on this thing thy for a red hot moment last year I thought I was all about the blackberry Torch. I was having a mini anti-iPhone moment despite being an owner. Used the blackberry Torch for 7 days and dejectedly went back to my iPhone.

iPhone is user friendly...and shopping friendly...as my depleting bank account cries when unload up the Sephora app. ;)

If you do get an iPhone I strongly suggest AT&T (even think hate those smug jerks) bec you can easily do international travel (though at a steep pre-paid price) and you can surf the web/text while in a phone call.
