Veterans Day

Hey, all!

The kiddo has off from school for Veterans Day, so we plan to take this time to organize the house--AKA throw out junk--and relax.

But before I start all that I thought I'd take this time to share some great quotes to celebrate our Veterans.
My dad served in the Army in the Korean War. My oldest brother served in the Coast Guard and my other brother served in the Air Force and is in the reserves and still gives up one weekend a month.

This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.
Elmer Davis

Freedom is never free.
Author Unknown

It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you.
Author Unknown

In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.
Mark Twain

How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!
Maya Angelou

Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.
G.K. Chesterton

Thank you to all who have served in our military and are serving now!

Enjoy your freedom today and see you Monday!

Do you have a family member who is a Veteran?

Lovely tribute to your family and to the vets too. It's a very poignant memorial day here too in the UK.

Take care

My Grandpa was a grunt in the Army during World War I. My uncle also served on the front lines in the nightmare that was Vietnam. Both are huge heros in my eyes, and I'm thankful every day for the heavy personal price they both paid for our country.

Having a mother and grandmother who lived in fear during the occupation of her country in WW2 (my grandfather was in hiding, I value the freedoms we have. (I still tear up every time I sing the national anthem.)

Great post, loved the quotes. I had junk day, well junk week, this past week while hubby was in Thailand. He's such a hoarder. ;)

Have a great weekend!

Terrific post. Thank you for remembering our veterans today, and a sincere thank you to all the vets reading this.

My hubby and brother both served in Nam, and countless other family members served in WWII and earlier conflicts.

Great post. :) My dad served in the Army in the Korean War, too. My brother was in the Air Force, and my son-in-law is currently a Navy pilot. He's already been deployed to the Middle East once, and is going again in a few months.

I love the Mark Twain quote. It is so true.

My dad was in World War two and my nephew served several years ago as a Marine.

Good thoughts on this day.

My father, who just passed way, was in the Air Force. Two of my brothers were in the Army. My nephew was killed in a Marine training excercise. I have another nephew who is making the Army a career move, etc etc etc!

Thank you for posting this tribute.
