Friday Favorites Part 2

Hey, all! Hope everyone had a nice long President's weekend holiday. (I know I did) :-)

Let's see. I have so much to say and so little space...

First, this week's Friday Favorites:

Downton Abbey. (my new favorite TV series guilty pleasure)

I kept hearing about this show everywhere: blogs, FB, twitter, writing forums, etc... Sheesh, I HAD no choice but to give this show a shot. So, I downloaded season one to my Netflix and yada-yada-yada...

I watched all of it in less than three days. (I know. No comments please)

I love all that Masterpiece theater stuff anyway, but this show is rich in characters, setting, style, and history. I also really enjoy how a circumstance happens and the viewer is shown how it affects everyone including the servants. I was sucked up from the beginning!

Check it out. More info HERE.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Downton Abbey takes place around the 1916, which is kind of funny because, I spent all yesterday looking for 1920's style clothing.
Ha! There's something you don't write on a blog post everyday. :-)
The hubby and I have dinner with neighborhood friends once a month. Each couple who hosts must decide on a "theme" and they cook the main entree and all the other couples supply the alcohol, dessert, apps, and sides. But it all has to go with the theme.
This month's theme is a 1920's Speakeasy--dress-up strongly suggested
.
So the hubby and I ended up at a consignment shop. He bought a cool suit vest and I bought a white boa, long white clothes and the cutest little hat. (Pictures to come)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That's it for me.

So tell me, have you watched Downton Abbey yet?
Have you ever been to a Speakeasy party?

I was sick last week and with all the hype on the show, I watched and I finished up season one and two in 3 days! LOL Then I watched the mini-series North & South with Richard Armitage because I heard great stuff about that. Yep, it was wonderful. On Netflix!

Have a great time at the party. Sounds like tons of fun!

I'm frequently late to the party when it comes to what's good on t.v. Looks like I'm going to have to check out this show too.

And once a month theme dinners with neighbors? What fun!

I love Downton Abbey. Though there was an episode in season two that felt very contrived, but they redeemed themselves.

I've been to a 20s party but not a speakeasy part. I can't wait to see your pictures.

You're a fun lady! I haven't seen Downton Abbey yet, but hear it's fantastic. I threw my husband a Casablana birthday party. It was a blast.

I'm so out of it. My family loves it. My friends love it. I've never seen it. I know. I know. (Ducking behind tomatoes.)

I haven't seen any of this show, but the buzz about it sure has been getting louder lately, so I may have to check it out.

Your 1920s theme party sounds awesome. I have to find a dressy 1940s outfit to wear to a post-WWII themed wedding in May. Should be fun!

I haven't seen it yet but I keep hearing about it!

Hope you have a great weekend...I've missed being around the blogs lately!

Any hope for our Red Sox this year? If anything...it'll be interesting with all the changes! :)

Never heard of this but it sounds cool. And I wish I lived in a neighborhood like yours. I'd love to get together and host a themed evening. How fun!

I love everything about 20's stuff, the culture, the fashion, the people.. I'm like an old-fashioned woman who got lost in 21st century :D Thanks for sharing this post, I will definitely watch the show..
