Friday Favorites #10!

Happy Friday!!

I've been kind of MIA lately around the Net in case you didn't notice.
I mentioned on Monday that I'm in Candy Havens' Fast Draft class.
Let me just say...it's HARD.
But since joining, I've written 24 pages and I hope to have another 24-30 done by Monday. (More on that on after the weekend)

But now I have to announce the winner of Allie Pleiter's new book: Homefront Hero.
The winner (thanks to random number generator) is
Karen Lange!!!

** congrats!!!**

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's Friday Favorite time!!
I love grilled food, but I don't know how to use our grill. (true)
I don't even know how to turn it on. (also true)
I leave all of that to the Grill Master (AKA the hubby)
One of the things I love him to make for me is grilled veggies. The way he cooks them, I can easily eat a plate for lunch every day (with a little chipolte hot sauce). As a nice gesture, he even made them for me for lunch on Mother's Day.
Yes, in many ways I'm a simple woman. :)
Anyway, I think the secret to his grilling success with them is my Friday Favorite for today.
The grill wok.
He (AKA Grill Master, AKA hubby) meticulously slices the vegetables (onions, zucchini, carrots, red and green bell peppers, etc..) tosses them with salt, pepper, olive oil and fresh garlic and grills them for about 25 min.
The veggies come out so sweet! I can't get enough! The grill wok is pretty cheap. I think he got his for about $12.
If you don't have one, look into it. You can even toss shrimp into the cook veggies toward the end until the shrimp are done and voila! Dinner is served.
And now it's back to fast drafting for me...
Have a great weekend! (Hubby will be grilling me some more veggies for sure)
What about you? Do you know how to grill?
Have you ever tried a grill wok?
I just started using our grill a few years ago and now I love grilling. My husband rocks at it, but when I want to cook some chicken midday I hope on and get to it.
Congrats to Karen & Happy Friday, Jennifer!
Thanks, Em!
Wendy: I'm afraid to leanr how to work the grill. I think I'd end up cooking all the time if that happened. LOL
I've always been the grill master at my house. Only because I was a chef. And let me tell you, if you ever did learn how to use the grill, you wouldn't stop. You'd use it for everything.
Mmm, I love grilled food!! When my hubby and I buy a house, one of the first things we already know we'll get is a grill. I don't know how to grill yet, but once I get my own grill I'll learn. I could totally go for some grilled veges right now!!
Happy writing, Jennifer!
The grill wok. I like it. I used to grill but then the hubby took over. Now he doesn't really like me near "his" grill!
I'm good at starting fires on our electrical stove (LOL) but the grill, nope! My DH handles all that!
Some foods just taste better prepared on the grill, don't they? Maybe that's because everything smells so darned good while it's cooking, so the salivary glands get kicked into overdrive while you're waiting to eat. That grill wok sounds ideal for asparagus. Thanks for the heads-up.
Thank you! Was so excited to see that I won the book. This is a wonderful surprise and a nice ending to a hectic day. (Spent the day at the hospital; my mother in law had surgery.)
Love the wok, I need to look into getting one of these. Thanks for sharing, and thanks again for the book!
Happy weekend!
I haven't tried to use our BBQ, but in all honesty I don't think I'm allowed. Hubby steps forward to do the cooking every time and produces delicious food so I never argue.
Vegetables done on the grill are delicious!
I love grilled veggies! Have you ever done hobos? Sliced potatoes, onions and broccoli in foil over the grill?
My husband grills and woks. I just make the desserts for special occasions. I do love stir fry with rice and shrimp. It's great that you got your favorite on Mother's Day.
My son made me homemade pizza. It was fantastic.
Sadly, no. Hubs does all the grilling at our house. (Okay, and about 90% of the indoor cooking as well.) But I love to eat grilled food.
I learned how to grill a few years ago, and now I love to cook dinner on the grill - it feels so summery! I haven't heard of a grill wok, but I'll definitely look into that - the veggies sound delicious!
Would love to try grilling in a grill wok.
