Let the Shopping Begin!

Happy Monday!
Hope all you Americans had a happy Turkey Day!

PS. My Pumpkin Dump Cake was a smashing success.

I'm one of those anal types so right after dinner on Thanksgiving, I got a notepad and pen out so I could ask and write down Christmas suggestions for my family.

Of course, this is the year, I made a list of possible gift ideas for myself and NOBODY ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED FOR CHRISTMAS.

Figures.

So in case any of my family/friends are reading this and need some help with their shopping, I thought I'd post my list here. :)

THINGS I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

* one of those perfect portion batter dispensers for cupcakes and muffins
*a new chips and salsa bowl
* a salad spinner (yes, there is a food trend here)
*socks to wear with jeans (OK, this list is boring me now)
*gloves
*a travel toiletry kit (one I can also hang up in the bathroom)

Honestly, the list looked more exciting when I first wrote everything down.

But these are things I truly want/need. (I gave my hubby a list too;one that was a bit more extensive and included a laptop)

He told me to just go buy my own. Well. You don't have to tell me twice.

So the next day I actually went shopping on BLACK FRIDAY.
My way of also helping the economy.

You're welcome. :-)

I actually had a bad sleep Thanksgiving night because I had a cup of coffee after dinner at my brother's house and I think the caffeine ruined me. So I had NO trouble getting up at 4AM on Friday to head down to Staples. But I scored a laptop for $299 and a printer for $39.

Not too shabby. Then I headed to the mall.

I'm a little more than halfway done my shopping now, which is crazy productive of me. And it's not even December yet!

How about you?
Did you go out Black Friday?
Have you done any Christmas shopping yet?

NO, in fact, I'm trying to navigate thru Windows 8 now. (YUCK)

Hubby and I don't exchange Christmas gifts anymore, but we do lots of shopping together whenever we see a good sale.

Jennifer, you're so practical! My kind of girl!

Congrats on the new laptop!!

My daughter just got a new laptop with Windows 8. She said that reading the info in the "Navigating in Windows 8" app really helped.

Woo hoo the Pumpkin Dump was a hit!

Minimal shopping. Must get to it! I think the holidays jumped out from behind a hidden door for me this year.

I didn't even leave the house on Friday!

You'll like the salad spinner. We use ours all the time. And I've put slipper socks on my Christmas wish list before.

My Christmas shopping usually starts on Dec. 22. I am such a last minute Lucy it's not funny. Monster's getting the laptop this year. My mother bought it for her. No, she's not spoiled at all. I'm still waiting for Santa to deliver my Kindle. We'll see.

I bought a couple things online on Black Friday but I haven't hit the stores. I'll do most everything online, I think!

I'm not a shopper so I avoid Black Friday and the entire weekend by staying away from any place that sells stuff. :)

No black Friday shopping for me. Maybe some Cyber Monday shopping. I'm usually the type who waits until about December 20th, and says, "hey, I should probably do some Christmas shopping soon!"

My Christmas list involves rugs for the dining room and bar stools for the kitchen, or book money. I love bookstore gift cards. So, my list might be more boring than yours!

You people and your last minute shopping!!

I'm done with Christmas shopping. But Husband is one of our December birthdays, and I haven't bought him anything yet. Wrapping is a whole other horror story.

Great score on the laptop and printer!

I think your lists sounds fun. I'd definitely ask for socks if I needed them :)

I went shopping Thursday night. Yep, stores were open with good deals. Of course, I was the only one who didn't buy anything, but it was still interesting to see all those people.

Hubby and I are making all our Christmas presents this year, so hopefully we won't be doing too much shopping.

I did Black Friday and LOVED it. I always have. I love your blog by the way!

That's awesome! You're really on top of it. Except for the salad spinner, LOL! OK, true confessions. We don't shop for Christmas until after the last family birthday in what we call "birthday row", which is mid-December. Last minute shopping? I'm a pro!

No Black Friday shopping for me. I pretty much hid out all day with tea and books. It was heavenly.

Nope, no Black Friday shopping for me either, but I have already bought some Christmas gifts. Good for you making a list. (I HATE to come up with ideas of things I "want".)As for that perfect portion batter dispenser, you could use the same perfect portion pancake batter dispenser that I use. (A measuring cup!)

We don't have the day off in Canada, but stores still had sales. I didn't brave the stores, but I did get some great deals on line over the weekend :)

Glad you had a good Turkey Day!

I too helped the economy on Black Friday! How nice of us! ;)

I'm about halfway done this year too, which is huge, but I know myself. That last half will happen the WEEK before Christmas and I will panic. LOL.

PS-I don't think your list is boring at all. The travel thing that hangs is on my OWN list. Great minds.

Yay on the laptop! The Black Friday sales looked scary on TV.

I'm the type that does her Christmas shopping awfully late. But congrats on scoring the laptop!

Salad spinner for sure a good buy! Bought one a couple of months ago and haven't looked back since. I also wrote out a Christmas list and mine also has lots of kitchenware! Sigh, that's what happens with being a mom. And no-one's looked at it yet, but I think they know what's on it, because I've let them know several times already.

I didn't go out on Black Friday, but I did make a few shopping trips over the past week and I'm almost done with shopping. It's a short list this year - college is coming up (for me and my oldest daughter), so I'm watching pennies!

Like you, I tend to be practical :)

I haven't gone shopping yet. I tend to shy away from crowded stores...and procrastinate...

Wow! You have some practical gift list!

Hope you get everything you have on it!

Yikes! Is it time to Christmas shop?? Again?? *wink* I did not go this year. I was too tired from Thanksgiving. Didn't even do Cyber Monday. Fingers too tired. Love your list.

I guess I'd better hit the malls. Ivy's birthday is this weekend. She wants money for that and for Christmas to save to go back to France. So that's easy enough. Ha.

Kristin Rae said...

wow, look at you braving the black friday madness! sounds like you made out good! good luck with Windows 8! I'm so lost on windows now that we're a Mac family lol. Yay for new computers!!
And I have a pretty great travel toiletry thing from LL Bean. It's lasted me years and years!

Sweet deal on the laptop! I'm secretly dreaming of a new iPad for Christmas, but I'm not sure if "Santa" is gonna get the hint. :)
