Thursday Thirteen #7

Thirteen TV shows that I Miss
*****************************************************

1…. Solid Gold **I really do miss the live lip synching, the countdown and, of course, the Solid Gold dancers!

2....American Idol ** It's only been a little over a week and I'm suffering withdrawal already.

3....The Gary Shandling Show **This show cracked me up. Especially the theme song.

4....The Ben Stiller Show** This show had SO many starting out comedians in it, including (of course) Ben Stiller, but also Andy Dick and Janeane Garofalo. They should have at least kept it on Comedy Central.

5....My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss**Ah, one of those reality shows that bit the dust before its time. Too bad. I really wanted to see what would happen.

6....In Living Color** Fire Marshall Bill and Homey D. Clown!

7....Homicide** Awesome drama. I loved how they'd mix in cool music with funky directing, too.

8....Mystery Science Theater 3000** This show was low on plot--just a a few people watching bad movies and making sarcastic comments--but I still found it amusing and miss it.

9....News Radio** Not quite the same after Phil Hartman died.

10....Quantum Leap** Please bring this one back!

11...Futurama** Why isn't this on? It's as funny as the Simpsons--just in outerspace.

12....X-Files** Yeah, yeah, I know it was going downhill after Mulder left (even before that), but I miss how cool the stories were.

13....Arrested Development** Hands down the funniest TV comedy in history. The cast was superb, the writing outstanding, and the direction impeccable. Yet, the show was cancelled after just 53 episodes. WAH!!!

I miss The OC. They should never have killed Marissa!

I soooo miss In Living Color and MST3K. I rent the MST3K movies from Netflix and any time I'm in a plane or tall building shout out, "I can see my house from here!" LOL!

I know there's still one episode to go, but as of next Sunday 7 P.M. I'll miss the Sopranos.

I also wish the new season of Battlestar Galactica would hurry up and start.

You know, I haven't seen a single one of those.

I think X-Files was my all time favourite TV show. I don't watch much TV, but that show had me hooked. Until it started to totally suck, of course!

I really miss In Living Color! BET did a marathon on New Years Day and I recorded eight hours worth of episodes. I think ou can buy the first two seasons on DVD.

The other shows I miss are:

COMMANDER IN CHIEF - Geena Davis was awesome in that show.

SOUL FOOD - Fantastic show with a fantastic cast.

THE ORIGINAL AMERICAN BANDSTAND AND THE ORIGINAL SOUL TRAIN - I was addicted to both back in the day, but both shows changed and got really dry over the years.

RHODA - I never cared for Mary, but her sidekick was my girl!

THE HITCHHIKER - This HBO series was so cool and scary. The stories often featured actors who've now become big stars.

SOAP - A crazy, irreverent sitcom I never missed.

THE WALTONS - the exact opposite of SOAP, but the stories were wonderful.

I really miss Arrested Development too! That show was a hoot! I think the show I miss the most is Buffy. Not the almost to the end Buffy but early and mid Buffy while Angel was still on it and Spike wasn't a wuss! LOL! Happy TT!

I miss some of these too. You could always count on MST3K to lift your spirits. We were watching a movie the other night and thought, 'Wow, this would be a great MST3K movie.'

Why don't you watch Canadian Idol? I just love both these shows, American and Canadian.
Your list brings back lots of fond memories.

X-files, for sure. And Mystery Science Theater 3000 was pretty darn funny sometimes. :D

I miss several of those as well. But I have one I miss most of all.
FIREFLY *sigh*

I'm going to miss the Gilmore Girls.

Amelia June said...

Ditto RG--Firefly is the most tragic loss of show EVAR. Though XFiles, MST, and others are surely right up there.

I'm going to be very sad when Veronica Mars doesn't return, also. Sniff.

Thanks for stopping by.

One show that I miss is probably friends. I know they were running out of stories and some seasons just really stunk, but sometimes it was truly funny.

Have a great weekend.
