A Cover By Any other Name...

IN THE NEWS: According to World Magazine, "In the case of a donut store robbery in Cambridge, MA, snow is a cop's best friend. When officer's arrived at Dunkin' Donuts early on Dec. 20, the manager said a bandit had just held him up and left with &70 from the till. To find the suspect, police simply followed the footprints in the snow until they disappeared to bicycle tracks. After following the trail, police picked up the 51 year old suspect who was later positively identified by the manager."

Nope. Your eyes are not deceiving you. What do ya think of the blog color? I call it... Ode to Dunkin' Donuts.

Yeah, it's a little bright. But, hey, that's me.

Bu-dum-dumph.

I might still tinker with color later. Anyhew, since I just finished handing in my cover art sheet to Samhain for my upcoming book and have been searching through various website designs for ideas for a website, I decided the old blog could use a face lift for the new year as well. If anything, it'll wake you up in the morning.

Bu-dum-dumph. Thank you. Don't forget to tip the waitstaff.

LOL! Yeah, I know I'm giddy this morning. I think my mind is fried from trying to figure out all this website/HTML/design/hosting/domain registration espialadocious stuff. My poor brain can't handle it. In fact, I think I'll switch topics. We'll resume this conversation of websites when my brain cells stop swelling.

Instead, let's talk about my cover art ideas--or lack there of. Originally, I would have thought I'd have tons of ideas for a cover for my book. But nope. Nothing. The only things I could think of was a montage of pictures from various scenes: a guy with long hair, an eye patch, a spider, a movie camera, some children. Of course, looking at all that, it seemed not so romantic and a little more... freaky. Especially for a contemporary romance.

So I re-read my story--still loved it--and got a better picture of what I thought would go with the title. I've been seeing some really fun/beautiful/sexy covers lately from artists over at Samhain, so I'm leaving it in their capable hands.
But I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Later.

Exciting stuff -- birthing a new book into the world. Do you know how many of us which we were in your shoes right now?

The other day I met a guy in the Barnes & Noble parking lot who is a graphic designers. He profesionally designs web sites, and the more I talked with him the more I'm leaning towards getting someone to do my "real" web site once I sell. I don't think my little pea brain could take all of that HTML crap...

I love the Samhain covers. They're really beautiful so I'm sure they'll come up with a stunning one for your cover. I look forward to seeing it.

Love the DD color scheme. You're right. The stuff you mentioned does sound freaky, or at least more like a mystery than contemporary romance. But I'm sure you (or Samhain) will come up with something great.
