Catch Him if You Can is released today!!!

Hi, all!

I'm so happy to announce that my latest book--Catch Him if You Can is finally released today!

I just love Arden and Wade. They were a lot of fun to write. Sometimes characters can just take off by themselves and these two definitely did that.

Hope you get to check it out for yourself!

Veterinarian Wade Roberts is done with love. But try convincing the elderly folk of Cape Harmony who are determined to play matchmaker. Now the young single women in town are bombarding him with baked goods and love notes, and being “taken” is the only way to stop the meddling grannies—which is why he needs a fake fiancée. Fast.

Arden Pearson loves planning weddings. Other people's weddings, that is. After her own engagement ended in disaster, she prefers to live vicariously through her work. But when she needs to persuade a big client that she’s capable of planning the celebrity wedding of the year, she’s willing to go as far as pretending to be engaged herself to her best friend’s older brother.

Soon their ruse has everyone in town believing they make the perfect couple—including Arden. She’s always been nothing more than a kid sister to Wade, and it might take a village to convince him otherwise...

What Nice Reviewers Have Been Saying...

"I was laughing while reading chapter one... I was hooked!" -Jessica C., Goodread

"I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!  A new twist on a small town grapevine." -Pamela D., NetGalley

"I'm a huge fan of the tropes in Catch Him if You Can: fake fiancé and friends to lovers. In Shirk's capable hands, the tropes feel new and fresh." - Erica H., Goodreads

"Jennifer Shirk always delivers a light, engaging romance with endearing characters." - Nicola A., Goodreads

"This book was hilarious fun.  The banter between Wade and Arden is so much fun to read.  These two had me in stitches.  These two characters felt real and it was easy to become invested in their story.  Not to mention they are pretty hot together." -Patty W., Goodreads

“I don’t understand what difference it makes if you’re married or engaged or whatever on how you do your job,” he said.

Her shoulders slumped. “Normally, it wouldn’t make a difference, until I received that bad press a few months ago.”

“The Bahamas Bolter?”

“Yes,” she grumbled. “Anyway, it’s a long story, but these particular clients were hesitant to sign until I kind of sort of blurted that I was engaged.”

Wade snorted. “Seriously? It’s not like my clients think I need to own a pet to be a good veterinarian.”

“Exactly! Thank you.” She bit her lip. “Normally, I’d dismiss clientele who thought like that. However, they are pretty big clients, Wade. Huge. Huge enough that if all goes as planned, everyone will easily forget that wedding snafu I had a few months ago. I had no choice but to tell a teensy lie. And, well, since you had wanted me to pretend to be your girlfriend earlier, I figured…”

“You figured I could be your fake fiancé.”

“Yes. Will you?”

“Uh, here’s the thing. I wanted a girlfriend,” he said, folding his arms. “I didn’t say anything about a fiancée.”

“Oh, Wade, really?” She spluttered. “What’s the difference?”

“What’s the difference? It adds a whole other element to the charade. And besides, don’t you think you’re moving a little fast in our fake relationship? I had no idea you were so pushy. Fake boyfriends don’t like to be—”

“Okay, I get it!” She huffed. “So sorry I didn’t fulfill your time requirement to be fake courted properly, but like I said, this is an actual emergency.”

He took a bite of banana bread and chewed, pretending to think it over. “I don’t know…”

Arden planted her fists on her hips with a harrumph. “What don’t you know, Wade? Whether you actually missed out on the fake wooing or how unreasonable you’re acting right now?”

“Now, now. A short temper is not something particularly attractive in a fake girlfriend slash fiancée.”

“Well, maybe when a person’s career is in jeopardy and she asks a friend for help and gets turned down flat, she wouldn’t feel the urge to punch the fake boyfriend slash fiancé in the throat.”

He wanted to grin but didn’t dare. It was rare to have the upper hand with Arden—and he found he was quite enjoying this sudden little nuance, along with her begging him for help.

Chance to win $25 Amazon GC! #sweetromance

WHAT JENN IS WORKING ON NOW: NOTHING! Well, not nothing, exactly. I just handed in the 2nd book in the Accidentally Yours series and now I'm plotting #3.

WHAT JENN IS LISTENING TO NOW: "The Man' by The Killers

Happy Monday!

I'm excited to share that my author bud Jody Holford has a new sweet romance out today!
You can read the first chapter on her website!

Megan Carter’s spent the past five years nannying for a pint-size boss—the adorable Charlie—while also navigating her full-size boss, his somewhat grouchy, way-too-methodical dad, Adam. Now that she’s finally moving on, helping Adam find her replacement should be easy...except he doesn’t want another nanny. He wants a wife.

Adam’s been burned by love in the past, so of course he believes finding someone who can be a partner in raising his son is all that matters. Too bad the woman helping him search is the biggest believer in love at first sight and happily-ever-after he’s ever met.
Even as Adam’s funny, charming, and—who would have thought it?—super-hot side starts to come out, Megan knows that without love, a family would never be complete. But convincing Adam of that might be harder than she thought

Available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and ITunes!

To celebrate our two new releases, Jody and I are hosting a $25 Amazon Giveaway!

GOOD LUCK!
Winner will be announced here next Monday.

Wrong Brother, Right Match is out today!

Hi, all

Happy Monday!

First off the bad news: I've been sick since Thursday. Had to go to the doctors and everything! They told me I had a 101 fever and gave me a prescription for antibiotics and a super strong cough syrup. Bleh. December is a TERRIBLE time to be sick.
There is too much to do and too many parties/fundraisers to attend.

Now the good news: I'm feeling better! (a little) AND it's release day for my new sweet romance

Matchmaking guru Kennedy Pepperdine’s life is perfect. Perfect job. Perfect friends. Perfect boyfriend. Except...when she gets trapped in an elevator with a handsome stranger, she accidentally confesses a secret: maybe her perfect boyfriend, Justin, isn’t so perfect for her after all. But a matchmaker should be able to successfully match herself, right? Thankfully, she’ll never see the handsome stranger again. Until she heads home with Justin for the holidays and learns that the sexy stranger is none other than Justin’s older brother, Matt.
Matt Ellis is trying to be on his best behavior for his mother—it is Christmas, after all. But when he recognizes the beautiful woman from the elevator—the one he hasn’t been able to stop thinking about for months—his best behavior is being held by a thread. Matt’s always sacrificed for his family, and nothing is more important than their happiness, but the more time he spends around Kennedy, the more he wonders if her supposed "right match" might just be the wrong brother.

A little author publicity and a new release!

WHAT IS JEN WORKING ON? #3 in the "Anyone but You" Entangled Bliss series called Perfect on Paper.

Hi, all, and happy Monday!

So, if you follow me on Facebook, you probably already know that the Chamber of Commerce in my hometown honored me in April at their annual "Salute to Working Women" luncheon--or as I like to call it in front of my husband: Woman of the Year! LOL

I was really floored to be recognized for my writing as well as my volunteer work in the community. It was all so very humbling.

If you want to read the article, you'll find it HERE

With all this sudden"publicity" around town, it's given me an idea to set a new book series in the town of Ocean City, NJ--especially because it is such a nice town to live in.
After all, we are "America's Greatest Family Resort"!

In case you didn't know, Ocean City is actually a seven mile barrier island founded by four Methodist ministers. Part of the original four’s wish was that Ocean City remain a pure retreat that exemplified the Christian mindset, so it is a dry town (no public drinking anywhere on the island). We have a 2 1/2 mile long boardwalk with rides, food, and other attractions as well. We have beautiful beaches and surfing is very big here.

Honestly, I don't know why I never thought about basing a book here before. Although a good majority of my books are set in fake New Jersey shore towns. As a small-town sweet romance writer, I can't think of a more perfect backdrop for my books with the beach and boardwalk.

I'm excited to start!

Have you heard of Ocean City, New Jersey?
If you are a writer, do you prefer to make up your towns or use real ones?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news... today is release day for me! (of sorts)
I got the rights back to my very first book, The Role of a Lifetime, and decided to give it to the good people at Entangled Publishing and my very favorite editor (who helped me add to this book) and now we have a fresh book now called FROM FAKE TO FOREVER.
YAY!
If you never had the chance to read it the first time around, I hope you check it out now!
A Healthy Recipe and some News!
Hi, all!
It seems like once a month is about how often I'll be posting here.
But I wanted to share a few things with you:
1) Had a BLAST at the RWA convention.
One of the things that is so cool is meeting people you interact with online on a daily or weekly basis and then putting an actual face and body with that name. There are REAL people out there! Fancy that. LOL
2) I'm taking my health kick up a notch and have been recently doing a program called PiYo--which is a combination of Pilates and Yoga. Now, I'll be honest. I hate Pilates and I hate Yoga. But I LOVE this workout. It helps me work on flexibility in a fun way. I feel really great!
3) I've been eating a lot of granola with Greek yogurt, so I decided to make my own granola because I often wished certain ingredients were in what I was having. Well, lucky you, I'm sharing my kick-butt recipe. I will even snack on it by the handful.
No-Nut-Good-For-You-Granola
6 cups organic rolled oats
1/3 c brown sugar
1/3 c maple syrup
1/2 tsp salt
1 TBsp vanilla
1/2 c coconut flakes
1/2 c craisins
1TBsp grapeseed oil
1/2 c dried apricots (diced)
1/4 c wheat germ
1/4c dried apple chips
1/4 cup chia seeds
1/2 c sprouted pumpkin seeds
1/2 c sprouted sunflower seeds
Preheat oven to 325
In a microwave glass bowl, combine sugar, syrup, oil, salt and vanilla. Microwave for about a minute or so until sugar dissolved. Combine with rolled oats until well-coated and add half of coconut. Spread evenly onto sprayed baking sheets in a single layer. Bake about 25-30 min, stirring every 5 min or so until oats are lightly golden.
Remove from oven and cool slightly for 5-10 min. Add fruit, seeds and rest of coconut. When completely cool, store in tight container.
ENJOY!!
4) Lastly, I finally have a release date for
WEDDING DATE FOR HIRE!
     October 12, 2015!!!
Actually, I just received my cover and will reveal it here next Monday, AUGUST 24TH!! (Newsletter subscribers will see it on Sunday)
Because I'm so excited, I will be having a little TWITTER promo to go along with it NEXT MONDAY.
1: $25 Amazon or BN GC
A Break in this Break :-)
Hi, all!
Yes, I'm still on blog break but I wanted to make you all aware of my buddy's New Adult book that's out right now!
I just bought it and can't wait to dig in!
Stephanie Monahan
THE MEAN GIRL APOLOGIES
Sometimes the song on the radio really is about you.
You know that catchy song you keep hearing on the radio?
It’s about you.
Natalie Jamison has spent five years trying to forget the girl she was in high school: popular, pretty…and, okay, mean. Now in her twenties and living once again in her small town, she’s right back where she was: following Queen Bee Amber and keeping secrets from her best friend, Sarah.
Secrets like Jack Moreland.
Everyone knows Jack Moreland—his new album, Good Enough, is everywhere. He’s famous. Impossibly handsome. Completely untouchable. But what none of Natalie’s old clique knows is that in high school, Natalie and Jack fell in love. And their secret relationship was incredible, painful—and earth-shattering enough to inspire an entire album.
Facing friends and enemies isn’t easy, but Natalie will go to great lengths to prove she is good enough—to her friends, to herself, and most of all, to the small-town boy turned worldwide heartthrob she never forgot.
